Recently my mod (iJoy captain p0270) quit reading my tank (Aspire Cleito 120) stating that no atomizer was detected. I tore the tank down and started fidgeting with it, going over some of the stuff it has done in the past. I've had to repair this tank multiple times but this time I was stumped. I began using my brothers tank as he was out of town but he returned and needed his tank back. I was messing with my tank and I realized that at the bottom of my atomizer where it connects to the bottom of the tank (sorry my vocabulary isn't the best) was not connected to the atomizer. I removed the piece and noticed two parts of my coil hanging down as if they connect or just touch in order to provide a current to said piece. I placed the piece correctly onto the atomizer and it began to read. I'm guessing that because the bottom of my coil was not connected to the bottom of the atomizer it was not completing the current. I've never had this fear of my tank exploding but I've heard a lot about sub ohm tanks exploding lately and was curious as to if i should be worried until I am able to pick up a new coil.

As long as the connection is steady you are good to go. And yes, sounds like time for a new tank and coils. I have never heard of a tank exploding.
Thank you, I wasn't too sure. I've seen a couple stories and reports about vapes exploding but never did it list the product that exploded. I tried google searching it but all I found were battery caused explosions.
There is nothing that would cause the "tank" to explode.
However, a misused battery or battery device could explode. This is far more likely to happen in an unregulated or mechanical mod. Regulated mods (like your Captain) have protection circuitry included to help avoid a hard short to the battery.
If a battery shorts out from abuse or misuse, it can release hot gas into the battery holder. If the battery holder does not have adequate vent holes, the accumulation of gas in a metal tube mod can become a pipe bomb and explode. This force usually propels the tank upwards and if it happens while you are vaping it can cause some serious facial injuries.

I don't see why your tank would explode, but it's possible it might leak if the connector to the coil and the coil is loose. As long as it's not behaving oddly you should be okay, but yes, it's probably time to replace the tank.
I'd be more worried about leaks into the battery, but if things get disconnected again you should get a "no atomizer" reading at which point I would probably remove the tank, and replace it.
