Ok so a little background...

Smoker for about 14 years..(1-1 1/2 packs a day)
Tried Chantix in the 2008 and i FELT it working and getting rid of the craving, but i was going thru a lot of stuff at the time and just didn't quit.

I quit smoking analogs about 6-7 months ago and have been vaping for 6-7 months ( i quit the same day i started vaping ) and have not Looked, Touched or Wanted a analog since then.

I Have always and currently vape 12-16mg juice at 5-6volts.

Well i am 6-7 months into vaping and i am thinking about quitting. Once again, I looked at vaping as a "AID" to help me quit, not replacing the addiction so to speak.

So i am sure after 6-7 months OFF the analog, The chemicals (not nicotine) are out of my system, I was thinking about trying Chantix once again and this time i "believe" i might have a much better shot at quitting. Reason being, I am only up against Nicotine now ( which i know is a very powerful thing to overcome ) but i think that trying to quit just the nicotine it self rather then Nicotine and the other chemicals in analogs will be easier ( and i am certain there were some chemicals in the analogs that also aided in the addiction )

So, My plan is to vape for maybe another week or few days while taking the .5mg chantix and then quit vaping and go to the 1mg as directed.

Also, when i am at home, I vape all the time but when i go out 90% of the time i leave my unit at home and i can be without anything for a good 4-6 hours and not even worry about it. I tried getting myself into the habit of not carrying these with me 24-7 so that way i could slowly take myself off them.

Was curious if anyone had any stories to share? Comments? Thoughts? Advice to my plan?

Also, when i was using Chanitx i did not experience any side effects other then the upset stomach ( which i found to be a good thing because then i would not eat all the time which is a common problem when you quit )

Please note, I am not trying to turn this into a Chantix thread ( as there is already one going on) i am simply asking others opinion and advice on my plan. Maybe someone else used another plan to help them quit? or maybe they have some pointers for me? or something along those lines.

Thanks

My first reaction is that your plan sounds like a good one to me, as long as your past experience with Chantix wasn't too bad.

I sometimes think about what my plans might be for the (distant) future, as relates to my vapeing. I envision that I'll just gradually cut my vapeing down to a near-none level, then just stop all together. No NRT's, no nothing. I definitely think the vapeing will make it a lot easier than just cold-turkey off the analogs (with no vapeing in between).

So I applaud your plan, and hope that you will update us on how it goes.

Chantix made me want to slit my wrists.. So it would have helped me quit smoking.. As well as breathing, laughing, smiling and even farting.. I dnt want to give those up too so I stopped the chantix.

If your experience was different then great, but I ddnt even realize the chantix was making me so depressed.. Had to have it pointed out to me! (If you are lying to yourself, how would you know?)

I have already cut back from 24mg to 12mg cartomizers with no I'll effects, am planning on taking it down to 0-6mg within the next two weeks...

nice to hear.. have you hear of mixing with glycerin. it will cut down your nic level as well as produce more vapor. keep in mind though it will also cut down the flavor. which works for me cause my fav liquid the flavor is very strong

Even better, get this: I ordered the TV buttered rum two weeks ago (12mg with 10%VG) and love the flavor but want more vapor as well as the option of lowering my nic levels.. So I ordered in a TV doubler of the butter rum (0mg, 75% VG) and am planning on cutting the one with the other...

Well just a update. I decided to NOT try Chantix again.

I sold off all my PV stuff ( SB, Prodigy, Juice ) there is not even a cart in my home!

Anyways, I stopped vaping last Thursday-Friday. So i am going on day 6 and i feel completely fine....I wonder why this is? Not that i am complaining really.

I decided to NOT use Chantix simply because i wanted to do this on my own.

I do admit i have Nicotine gum as backup just in case i went nuts or anything and really nothing much has happened. I am surprised really. For being a 15yr smoker, quit for 7 months and vaped for 7 months i thought that a day without my device and i would start flipping out.

Drinking a lot of water also.

I do notice 2 things...I actually sleep now! lol, i can go to bed at a normal time, wake up at a normal time and feel good when i wake up. Other then that, i feel a little bit more energy but thats about all.

Lets hope it continues on this path....

maf2k8 , TERRIFIC post!

I was a heavy smoker, and on day one stopped with an e-cig. For about five months I vaped 24mg/ml juice, then cut down to 18mg, and now to 12mg, have held even for about 3 months or so. But I can tell you, each drop in nicotine strength had NO withdrawal symptoms, zero! So surprising to me, not at all the same as not having a cigarette for an extended period (Which I never quite mastered!)
I would have to go 0 nic for a time first, see how it goes. Not yet though. A little too frightening still. I will never go back to cigarettes.

This is an awesome thread! I notice I can go all afternoon w/o vaping if I'm busy.... I don't vape in the morning for several hours after waking up.... I think this is something I could probably give up... I'm not quite ready since I enjoy it so much but if my blood pressure keeps going whacko I think it may be easier than I anticipate. So glad you didn't need the chantix.... I took it for 10 long months and felt like a walking time bomb, nasty stuff
