I was at the Craft store the other day and found a little flashlight (1"x1.5"x.5") that is powered by a wind up handle. It powers two little light bulbs. I doubt if it makes enough power for an e-cig, but it got me thinking for all you modders out there. Maybe a wind-up cigarette would solve the battery problem...

yeah er a ...................................I had the same idea..............it didn't go well...

see I attached it to the exactsame flashlight.....................and I cranked .......................................................................and I cranked.......but nothing......so I decided to attach it to a 10 speed bicycle....the wheel spun the crank around and I was vaping great..............I pedaled all around town vaping.

Then I was at the top of a big hill. I re filled my cart and I was going to go down the hill and be home. I took off- it was a huge hill.... I was puffing away as my crank flashlight worked perfectly....but the faster I went the more volts it created spinning faster and faster. At about 17.6 volt ( yes I put the meter on it ) the atty blew up boiling hot RY4 in my eyes my speeding bicycle out of controll..........then I saw it a van with famillar letters on it....................FDA...it was an FDA Van................................................................at a gas station....I aimed right for it......2 fat FDA jerk were re fillin the van talking on cell phones and 1 was smoking.......................................I aimed for the smoker......................hit him square.....burning pieces of attomizer still in my hair.....he fell into the guy re filling and talking on his cell phone........the van blows up and I am thrown clear!.........all 3 FDA agents were killed........I managed to save my flat tip cart ..............nothing of importance was lost in the accident......

It's funny you should say that valerie, I also purchased a little wind up 3 led flashlight myself just the other day and I have been quite surprised by how well it works- 30 seconds of winding, powers the torch for quite a long time. I could't help but wonder if the wind up technology is now good enough to be utilized for some kind of e-cig. If I thought it produced the right voltage I would probably be taking it apart and experimenting with it right now..lol.

We've kicked this around more than a year ago. What is needed is a manual generator of power. A push-pull setup in our cylindrical device would work best. Every seen a pump BB gun? That's the idea.

or something kinda like the flashlights that you shake back and forth, but smaller...

hmm.... this could be a pretty badass mod

I do have one of the flashlights that you shake back and forth but that takes a lot of work to get a very short amount of power. Yet 30 seconds of winding up this torch that I now have generate's enough power to keep the torch going for ages. That's why I am wondering if the wind up technology is now advanced enough to do it.

It probably wouldn't take much to build something around this. Solar panel with integrated 1500mAh Li-Ion and 5.5V output, about 5 inches by 3, although it claims a 500mA output the wattage rating makes it obvious it's more like the 100-250mA typical of a USB passthrough (hell, it's got both a standard male and mini-B female connection built in, just aim vaguely towards the sun and plug in your passthrough). At $7.40, I'll probably go ahead and order one just to play around with.
