Hi Guys,
I would just like to show off a mod I did today, its nothing flash, simply re-purposing a Phone QI clip into a charging sleeve for a joyetech evic.
I've been pottering about with this idea on some Australian vaping forums for a while, sourced all the parts to try it out.
I made sure the goods I purchased was WPC 1.1 version standard, after reading that the original 1.0 standard had a safety flaw where it could heat up foreign metal nearby the transmission/reception copper arrays (clearly an issue for metal tubes right?)
After trying the WPC 1.1 hardware extensively so far, it appears to be quite perfectly safe.
Less talk, more pictures!
I think the mod is very simple for anyone keen to do for any ecig or other usb device where the charge circuitry is integrated.
Its possible to perform the mod for non-stacked devices which doesn't have usb integrated, but would involve building a charger/regulator into the sleeve and building a specific tri-gate male-female atomizer-battery head. tricky, possible.
A further extreme which could be nice is to perform a mod where the array from a mobile battery is installed into the ecig behind say for example the evic fire button plastics, saving lots of space. more research into where the array could be soldered to the usb pcb port pinout would be required and space becomes an important factor.
If I try any of these more difficult mods I will post back here
