First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Came across this XCSOURCE Universal QI Wireless Charging Receiver film for micro-USB Android Mobile BC318:Amazon.co.uk:Electronics on Amazon, basically you plug it into a micro usb connection and it allows you to use wireless charging
Now I'm curious, would this work with vape device? Would be pretty neat to slap one of these on the side of a mod and sit it on a wireless charger while you mindlessly browse the internet or do your business, without the need to worry about charging your device :) I know wireless charging can be slow, but hey it's something! What do you guys think?

Edit: I noticed the output of the charger is 500mA, which is the same as a USB port on a computer, so for you guys who use that it should be pretty similar :p

I wouldn't do it, personally. But that's just me, if it can handle an 18650 then I guess go for it!

Those types of gadgets never really worked; in a mod they could be dangerous...
They do work on standard devices such as smart phones, although slow, care to explain how it could be dangerous? Most chips (including the charging chip) on mods these days have a lot of protection on it for the batteries, this would have the same effect as charging it via a USB port from your computer (same amperage)

Edit: Did a little bit of research and turns out vaporshark have their own brand of this (although a lot more expensive)

The biggest problem with wireless charging is excess heat. Personally, I don't want my device heating up while I'm charging it.

The protection is only as good as the chip, board and how it is wired...
Did VS ever ever get that to work? I saw the P. Busardo video where it didn't work out of the box...

Wrong

Yes, per initial intent, after some testing and internal redesign - they went on board.

Yes, a few people...Phil included Broke the wire at the connector. only certain designs have that weakness.

Apple can't even make a decent charging cord. Also, those pads you see on sale at Target are old tech. The reason they weren't popular is just like the original setup on the rDNA. One has to still plug something in to the device. For phones, you usually had to buy a separate case which had the card built in, which then plugs into the device.

The Apple charging cords work great for me.

So these wireless chargers aren't wireless?

They're wireless, but a receiver card needs to be plugged in to the device. They're pretty small and unobtrusive, but it wasn't what people really wanted at the time. Newer wireless charging technology is much better.

I usually go through about 5 cords for each iPhone I've owned. I've always bought Apple branded or certified, too. It's not a big deal, just annoying.

This is mainly about the theory guys, it should work, and if it does, it would be neat seen built in to the bottom of a regulated mod so it could be sat on a wireless charger, but with still the capability of regular charging, yes it's slow but that's why you have both options, most people vape then put their mod down, it gives that extra bit of charge, and plus, most people own multiple mods, some just sit on a shelf for awhile, why not charge it while they're there?

You'd think if the technology worked well Apple would be selling it and selling millions of charging mats/year. I've seen charging mats at the bargain bin at the Target originally priced at $40 for $8...

The reason Apple has not gone with it yet is they are still trying to figure out how to take the Samsung tech and make it proprietary to apple.

Well it may be a bit of a stretch. Still they want it proprietary so the reap the cash. Makes perfect business sense for Apple just not good sense for the consumer.

They filed their first patent for wireless charging I believe in 2012.

Oh boy, another innovative product from Apple, the iCharge and iCharger "new" and "never" seen before "cutting edge" technology
