But now, at least one tobacco company is taking the "switch" argument directly to smokers who want to quit smoking. In (what shouldn't actually be) provocative new ads, Reynolds America's "Smoke-Free Resolution" campaign, the company is telling smokers they can quit smoking by using snus. The ads ignore the best argument to switch, which is that the product is less likely to kill you. And for that, we have the government and the "health" activists to blame.
The best thing for smokers to do is to quit tobacco completely. But the multitudes who have tried and failed to quit smoking should not despair. They should tell the nanny-staters to ".... out" so they can realistically resolve to quit smoking, this time with the help of less harmful approaches such as e-cigarettes and snus.

This part is interesting. I wonder if the tobacco companies are getting ready to enter this market.

I recently read that they had tried some e-cig type products back in the 90's and late 80's I think it was.... It wouldn't surprise me though, if they don't realize the potential e-cigs have, its game over for them =)

Actually the two major tobacco companies, Phillip Morris and RJR have both been heavily investing in smokeless tobacco. And of course both have been moving into the snus market. Good for them as that's where things are moving along with E-cigs. Smokeless tobacco sales were up 7% in 2009 while cigarette sales are down.

I just tried to register at the paper so I could make a supporting comment -but the final step hasn't happened yet - when it does I will write in support of Jeff's ideas - I think if we had a lot of people do the same from ECF it would be a powerful statement to the government - a vey effective way to fight for our rights! So, come on and register at that paper. Use the above link to article and when you want to comment that's where the registration form is found - register and make that comment!
