So I have 2 reo's with my eye on a woodvil 18650. Found one on ebay but I want one of the salted versions. However its states in his description that they are only made once every few years and very rare. Now I knew they were made in small batches but once every few years? Is this true do I really have to wait that long to buy one, or is this just a used car salesman blowing smoke?

Wood REO's so far have been made in batches. Then put up for sale on a special day and time. Now not all are always sold that day.

There was just a sale last month. Last week there were a few put up on reosmods. These were not finished in time for the sale and held so more people could buy.

Robert tries to make them as often as he can do so. He has promised us a mechanical wood REO this year.

Wood REO's are hand finished and each one is a masterpiece.

You mentioned "salted" version. I am not sure what you mean. Robert has used many different types of woods. He has also done some in Stabilized wood.

The last batch took around 4 months to build, started in October went on sale late February. I don't know historically how long between runs but last run I saw before that was in April of 2012.

For the recent run he made around 300, posted 280 something for sale. 80 to 90 percent were sold within an hour, none were left 2 days later. I'm hoping to get the mechanical woods late this year.

I think he might have a few more to post from this last run but I could be wrong

Some of the wood that was used in this run and the last one, were exotic pieces that were given to Robert. Some of those woods might never be used again.

The Spalted Maple is not a wood that is used a lot. So it is rare to have a REO out of that wood. It is also a wood that many want!

Everything on eBay mass produced after 1970 is either antique or rare. Sometimes both. So...

As already mentioned you missed the last batch of nearly 300 that were put up for sale at the end of February. They aren't high volume mass production items so you do have to pay attention and purchase when they become available. Even then, you have to make a priority list and be willing to accept your 2nd - or 7th - choice of wood and finishes since each piece of wood is unique and you won't be the only one chasing after that only one.

You is verified. There still may be a few "buyer's remorse" Woodvilles showing up here in the classifieds. You have to pay attention and move fast as most of them are sold within ten minutes after being posted.

Other than that, pay attention right here in Rob's forum to see what he announces regarding what will be coming next. The wait can be agonizing but at least we all have plenty of advance notice for the date, day and time when we need to pounce
