So ive been working out for about 6 years. Ive been vaping no more than 3 months. A couple weeks ago i noticed what felt like either dehydration or minor cramping/tightness in certain muscles in my body. Now because i workout and because summer was starting and it was getting hot outside, i started running again and working out outside again and i said ok im probably dehydrated. started drinking even more water (i drink about a gallon of water or more daily). this sorta helped but i was still feeling it. Then i said ahhh i probably forgot to stretch after running or working out. so i stretched and made sure i stretched WELL before and after exercising. So ive been doing this and watching my body closely for the last week and i still feel the tightness and almost cramp-like sensation in my muscles.
Ive known since i stared vaping that PG turns into LACTIC ACID which causes that cramping and tightness feeling you can get after working out and not stretching. i have just been hoping so hard that vaping wasnt the cause. I also know from one of rip trippers videos that he got something similar from VG. i just really dont want this to be from vaping because when i workout i feel as if my muscles cannot move as well. for my mental health i cannot stop working out, and i cannot go back to cigs and idk if i could stop vaping right now!

does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix this problem and if you think it IS from vaping? I know im not the only person whos working out on ECF and i most certainly know im not the only person who has had this symptom as a potential side effect from vaping. so for anyone wo has this side effect and or works out and vapes i hope this could help. Im going to brainstorm all day of a way i could figure out what this is from and prevent it and then later ill get back on ECF, read any comments and post what my plan will be and how to execute it. thanks vapeheads in advance for any advice you may have. and sorry for such an unorganized post, im in a rush to get to the post office before the next pickup lol

I'm glad you posted this. I quit cigs cold turkey 2 years ago for nine months, and I felt a lot better working out then. (I've been lifting for several years). I got back on cigs and continued working out after that, and obviously it was harder, and I had a lot of shortness of breath while lifting. Now that I am vaping and working out it is definitely not as good as it was when I was off nicotine products all together.

I do know that nicotine effects blood flow and restricts capillaries. I know that is definitely going to be part of the impact, not getting 100% blood flow to your muscles if you were off nicotine all together.

I'm interested to see peoples thoughts on this.

It's obviously not going to be as good as if you didn't smoke or vape at all. You're drinking enough water - maybe too much, so pure dehydration is probably not the problem - unless you don't drink enough DURING your workouts.

Check your intake of minerals and electrolytes. I've always had cramps, and I know I have a chronic deficit in magnesium and potassium. These two can make a world of difference for muscles in general, and cramping in particular (magnesium also has a huge range of benefits, just take it).

Do you take any pre-workout ? If not, try some (before and maybe during your workouts). Or just drink a gatorade.

ok so im back. glad i got a some good responses. also good to know that a lot of you vape and workout and have no problem. drsocal...no offense but why are you here lol. oh i see, youre a vendor - isnt that sig against rules?

after rereading my post i think i should add more info:
i vape many juices a day, some 50/50 some 100%vg so 70vg/30pg. i eat well and take a multi so i should be getting the mag that i need. potassium tho, i used to eat a banana every day but recently havent had AS MUCH potassium in my diet. i vape 3 or 6 mg nic and when i vape, i VAPE. and i vape a lot. chain vape and usually .4 ohm build out of a dripper.

so my plan is to start ruling things out. first ill start with non vape related things to see if its something else im doing or not doing. i will continue with how im vaping for now. FIRST i will start with getting more potassium in my body every day. i believe a banana or avocado a day would be sufficient but i will eat 2 bananas/avocados a day for the next week just to be sure. i will post updates!

ok i know it hasnt quite been a week yet. but ive ruled out some possibilities. i tried ruling out 2 things at once which i know goes against the scientific method for this type of thing, but it worked to my advantage and i killed 2 birds with one stone. ive been eating a ton of potassium and stopped vaping PG and i still have the cramping/tightness. i am no going to try magnesium by taking a supplement i used to take called ZMK. im going to order and let you guys know if it helps!

ok so after taking ZMK for the last few days im assuming it was a magnesium deficiency. it could be something else in the ZMK thats helping but im sure its the magnesium. i could take all the things in ZMK individually to figure out exactly what it is but after taking ZMK again i remembered how amazing this supplement is. after the first day i felt less cramping. now i have about none. i was able to run longer and ive been able to workout harder. so problem solved! ZMK was the solution

I'm an avid cyclist. When I quit smoking (no vaping, just quit smoking), I'd gain 2 or 3 mph on my average speed, I could cycle up to 200 miles per day (100 to 150 tops when smoking) and my HR would go down to 45/50 at rest.

Now that I'm vaping... same thing. No difference whatsoever, even with the nic in the juice, which goes a long way to demonstrate to me that it doesn't have much more effect on the heart then caffeine.

I got back into running last spring, and I was still smoking. I was doing 5Ks and worked up to a couple 10Ks. Last August I ran my first 10K. I got there early so I had 2-3 smokes before the race. I ran a 54:58 and I was very pleased with this. Early this year I switched to vaping. I probably vape more than I used to smoke. I ran my first 10K of the season on May 4. I ran a 49:44. I didn't train any harder than last year (probably trained less due to the insane winter we had in Michigan). The only significant difference in training/lifestyle that I did was switch to vaping and I was able to shave five minutes off my 10K time. So, for me, I've seen no ill effects from vaping.
