Email addresses need to be txt file.

If you're cutting and pasting the body into an email, then adding your personal stats, it's just an email. Now, if we were sending this as an attachment, I could see where you're coming from.

ETA: ok, the email addresses are what you're talking about (sorry). If you were to cut them from the post, couldn't you then paste them into whatever platform you use?

I've always seen a list of emails in a plain .txt document. Often downloaded in a zip file. I'm a creature of habit. Publishing emails on a site is usually not a good idea because Google will pick up on it and draw the wrong type of attention.

I'm really wondering if news media is the best target beyond the press release. However, this is not my baby and I'm grateful you were here to pick up the ball and get it rolling. You've done a great job.

I just really want to target public health departs and everyone associated. Maybe we could start a thread for those addresses for future planning. I don't even know how a group can research and submit address without publishing them. I know of a couple of groups that have crowdsourced information (I'm thinking out loud). They opened a private area where people could independantly submit information.

There are a few blogs where op-eds and studies can be posted, which then can be selected for news readers, into other blogs, etc. I've noticed CASAA is not on them. But that's another subject.

New first post?????:

SAMPLE EMAIL:

Subject line: National & World vaping Day, The E-cig Saved me from inhaling over 4000 chemicals.

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.

It has been xxxxxxx days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to xxxxxx cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $xxxxx that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you:

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

The patches, gum and drugs have a dismal failure rate. Listen to the “man on the street” and you will find there are more of us that have quit smoking tobacco by using e-cigarettes than you think; we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. And that number grows every day.

....then continue on with a short paragraph about your personal journey.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Sincerely,

YOU

When the emails are posted, please put Your email address in the TO: line. Cut and paste the email addresses into the CC or BCC line.

So, does everyone like this?

Personally, in my opinion and gently stated, I think since we have so little time to pull this together, we need to keep it as simple as possible. Keep it to media for this time out; then we'll have a year to plan a bigger operation for next year's Vape Day. Of course, folks are welcome (and I would think encouraged) to add whomever they wish to their list.

I agree! We need t-shirts. . Peope love t-shirts lol

Love this, when our daughter got accepted to IU....she shouted "LET'S GET T-SHIRTS"... Lol!

I think it is astounding the amount of people, just in our small circle of close friends/family who inquired to me about vaping! My stepmom has been smoke free for 20 plus years, but just asked me to get her a set up with zero nic to stop her snack cravings in the evening. My husband wears his ecig on a lanyard when working and recently a vendor asked him for some information about it . I gave my hubby some websites and the guy bought 5 sets for his employees! I don't know anything better than our own "advertising", when people care enough to ask, we are all about educating them and pointing them to this forum!

Thank you Robino1 for starting this thread. I just shared it on my FB page and will work on the outreach to news outlets and politicians in support of vaping. After reading all the negative press earlier in the week..."I am mad and I wont take it anymore". The vote in Duluth this week has been more then a little disappointing and at times all the lies and misinformation being posted by the media can be very frustrating. Below is the comment I posted tonight on an awesome article from the eagle-tribune => Editorial: Nanny government identifies a new target » Opinion » EagleTribune.com, North Andover, MA

This is the best article on the current standing on e-cigarettes I've read in a while. I know it pulls in some data that is old, but overall it is unbiased on the subject. I have been using my personal vaporizer for over 9 months and been tobacco free for over 6 months. e-cigarettes saved my life and I know it. It pisses me off to no end that as soon as I find something that has helped me quit a 37 year addition that nothing else has been able to do some yahoo health nut and save the children fear-monger wants to take it away and ban it from existence. IMO, it seems that smokers have been rolling over and letting our rights get taken away from us. Maybe because we all know, yeah yeah we know it's bad and we wish we could quit, but now that we have something that is safer and not a nuisance we need to stand up and fight to keep our rights to use our personal vaporizers just like everyone else gets to drink alcohol and eat their fattening food in public. All these control freaks need to just get over themselves and let us enjoy life too.

Thank you :) I know how you feel. I didn't fight the smoking bans when they were pushing those, for the same reason you state. I honestly believed that it was bad for me and those around me. This on the other hand...... I will fight for. For as long as it takes. I'm hoping that with a positive spin on how these have worked so well, we might, just might, change the media's outlook. I'm hoping anyway :)

Done! The first post is now more in keeping with the title of the thread. It includes a sample of an email that can be followed with a place to personalize it with your short story.

Thank you to everyone for all your suggestions and help. Let's make this Happen!!

Attn: Robin, just to let you know - I subscribed and I think it's a great idea. Get the word out on Facebook too, if you haven't already. :D

Chak, most of those email addresses in that link bounced back when tested. :(
Well dang! I didn't think of putting it on my OWN Facebook wall!
Time to correct that oversight!
