I ordered some Vanilla Ice Cream JC juice from ecigs.co.uk this weekend and since then my atomiser has been making some odd noises. After I take a drag I get quite a loud hissing gurgling sound, a bit like an electric kettle when it's running low. Has any one else had this noise or know if it's a good or bad thing?

It's only happening with the JC liquid though, did a test run on another atomiser with Wicked juice and no noise. Soon as I used the JC with it the noise started. I've read some reports about the old formula killing atomisers but given that this is new stock at ecigs I'm presuming it's the new stuff. Could it be that it's non-PG perhaps?

Just a guess here Scrub but I've heard that JC eliquid is quite thin. It could be that it's seeping into the wick faster and flooding the atomiser? I find that when my atomisers are flooded they pop, bubble and hiss.

It might be worth draining your atomiser - blow through the battery end onto a tissue, scrunch up the tissue and stick it into the atomiser to absorb liquid and then try dry smoking without a cartridge. If this sorts the problem just drip two drops at a time on the atomiser to avoid flooding again or use a slightly drier cartridge. Just be careful not to dry the atomiser too much.

Actually, just did a test with this here. It does look like you might be right Kate. I've checked my cartridge and it is bone dry after a much shorter time than the Wicked juice.

I followed your steps and it worked fine. Refilled the cart and noise came back so it seems to be moving into the atomiser more quickly. Not sure how I can get around that really, maybe I'll have to drip smoke it or use as a base for some VG homebrew.

Scrub, I have found when using the JC if you add a little extra VG to the forumula it thickens it up a bit and seems to vape better. I tried all the flavours from the previous sample pack in the VG forumla that some people had trouble with, but encountered no problems myself. I really like the vanilla ice cream flavour but would next time buy a higher nic one due to adding the VG to it though. I know it defeats the object of it being VG, but I have also mixed it with other flavour PG based liquids, and have had no problems at all and it has produced some nice flavours :)

This was a different noise to that freddo. I've had the gurgling noise straight out of the box with my 901 so not worried about that. This is a hissing spluttering noise after I have had a puff and it's not in my mouth anymore. It sounds a bit like an electric kettle after you've poured the last bit of water out. Doesn't sound healthy whatever it is.

Thanks for all the responses. I've experimented a little this evening and I reckon it is to do with the the thickness of the juice. The cartridge seemed to be feeding the atomiser much more quickly than I'm used to and drying up. The extended noise after the toke was shortly followed by the burning taste so I think tribal's spot on there.

I took Betty's advice and thickened it with a bit of VG, 1part VG:3parts JC. Now the cartridge is lasting longer, the noise has stopped and a bit more vapour by the looks of things. Also no noticeable drop in flavour so looks like a result.

Cheers:thumb:
