I think some movement in that direction is inevitable, as the EU Health Commission is not what you might describe as 'entirely independent', or its regulatory processes logical and free from outside influence. After all, its Snus ban kills between 65,000 and 260,000 EU citizens a year (but puts hundreds of millions - if not billions - in pharma's pocket).

There is now some tangible movement toward an EU consumer federation.
I would suggest that a concerned vendor might think about contacting others in different countries with the idea of starting an informal EU trade group, only for informational and lobbying purposes and not for any other functions as normally performed by a national trade association.
