Not sure if I'm in the right forum for this...but could use a little help. I picked up a SMRT Rpm rebuildable coil to save money on buying coils. I've done plenty of coil rebuilds in my old drippers so I figured this would be pretty easy. The mesh coils that it comes with are a piece of cake, but since I have a decent amount of round wire of various sizes and gauges and I prefer a single coil for salts, I thought I'd try a few builds.
None of them seemed to fire correctly. Slow ramp up even on higher wattages, lots of tank flooding. I did spaced coils of various diameters and still nothing. Is it because I'm not pre heating the wire? I figured I'd need a smaller diameter coil to get more cotton in the atty head to prevent flooding but even that was off.
Failing that, I can't seem to source higher resistance mesh coils with legs. Are there any sources for these types of coils? I'm assuming I can use cotton pads cut to size when I run out of cotton strips.
Thanks for any insight.
