Hey all. I just received my One Stop DIY Shop Artisan kit yesterday. I am SUPER excited to get some of my own juices going! Last night I tried putting together a real "simple" (what I thought to be) Raspberry juice. The thing is, I can taste/smell the underlying nicotine base. I tried adding more Raspberry, some tobacco, some cantaloupe...just to increase the flavor and hide the nicotine flavor. No luck. This is a very small 3ml first batch, so I am not concerned at this point...however I would love to know if any of you DIYers could offer some advice? I'm thinking maybe I need to add sweetner? Or a masking/rounding additive like vape wizard?

Let me tell you what I have to work with, and then I will list what I put into this first test batch and maybe that will help you decide what I could do to this test batch or future batches differently.

Here's what I have in my kit:

60ml 50/50 PG/VG Nicotine Blend 36mg
120ml Pure VG Dilution Blend
9 flavors (LorAnns - Raspberry, Tutti-Fruitti, Tropical Punch, Melon, Apple) (The Flavor Apprentice - Cantaloupe, Caramel Candy, Ripe Banana, tobacco Blend)
Sack of menthol crystals

Here's what I put in the Raspberry initially (attempting to make a 3ml 18mg sample):

1.5ml PG/VG nicotine (50%)
1ml VG (35%)
.4ml LorAnn Raspberry (15%)

So that was the initial "simple" mix. I could taste nicotine, and not a lot of flavor. So I proceeded to add .4ml more of the LorAnn Raspberry, 5 drops of The Flavor Apprentice Tobacco Blend, and 6 drops of Flavor Apprentice Cantaloupe. Still has a slight underlying nictotine flavor, and not a lot of fruit flavor. Has anyone experienced this on their first runs?

Thanks a lot ALL!!

I am not familiar with the LA flavors but for PA Raspberry I mix at 10-15% with good results. Did you use a calculator? This is the one that I use eJuice Recipe Calculator

So you started at 12% you may need to go as high as 20% to make it to your liking. I have heard that LA is a bit weak.

YAY replies!! I appreciate every one of them. Thank you!

I probably already hosed that batch then, because I added a buttload more raspberry, and double cantaloupe, plus tobacco blend! LOL...then I slammed in some menthol crystals... I suppose in a few days it'll be insane, or unvapeable. I was just trying to "make" it have flavor, but totally overlooked the steep factor! (I am vaping it now anyway, can't let it go to waste)

Any other ideas are welcome! Have any of you used vape wizard or any of the malto stuff, etc? Will I be needing other additives (EM, PGA) for future batches? In other words, what are basic tool box necessities besides nic juice, dilution base, and some flavors. TOO MUCH FUN!

Thanks!

This place has allot of diy stuff...they do have a coupon code as well. I have ethyl maltol but you can get it mixed up already in the flavoring called Cotton candy. I also tried Koolada which is nice. I just use less to 1% of the EM. It works well for tobacco mixes. I do use a little spendex in the more complex flavors..Remember vg will add a little sweetness to the mix as well. (Just my humble opinion).

Don't feel bad about your first experiment....one of my first was a apple menthol tobacco...I added too much apple(Loranns) and I will tell you it ripped up my throat...(Yeah a little exaggerated but it was truly harsh on the throat). It taught me a valuable lesson, mix low then wait a few days,,,vape then add additional flavorings if needed. I know it may sound time consuming but for me, its easier than wasting my ejuice:)

ONce you get the hang of it....it will become easier to plan your mixing....

Your input is VERY valuable to me...thank you so much. I am sure I will be more active along the DIY threads as I learn. Can you imagine what my mix will taste like in a few days with all that raspberry, cantaloupe, menthol? :0

Thank you very much again!!

If it's Lorann super strength fruit flavoring. I usually put 7 to 10 drops in a 3ml. I never had luck with non super strength Lorann. Few drops of sweetener, half drop coolada, tiny dab menthol, or 4 drops cotton candy. Just play around and find what you like. Taste as you add and as it steeps in the coming days. Remember DIY is all about your taste. So have fun and make it custom to your liking :) Also go on youtube and type in diy e juice diy e-liquid. :) some videos on how to :)

All of my LorAnns do not say "super strength". I will take the steep advice. Last night I ran a simple 3ml caramel candy batch (used flavor apprentice). It isn't bad at all! I'm getting super excited now! Today I ordered from capellas, they've got a great "buy 6, pay for 4" sale going.

Has anyone messed around with MTS Vape Wizard or Magic Mask from FlavourArt? If so, how does it work for you?

Thank you!

It can't be any worse than my last attempt...
Someone posted an easy combo for a flavor with equal amounts (7 % each) of watermelon, fruit punch, cherry (I think it was cherry, I've tried to block it out of my memory).

I didn't have fruit punch, so I used tutti frutti. I don't think the tutti frutti was the problem. I then tried to add some grape. Oy vey. Needless to say it was and is, for lack of a better word 'nasty'.

I actually like EZ Sweets or marshmallow flavoring to sweeten better than EM or cotton candy but that is my tastes. You can get a free sample of EZ Sweets if you pay $2 shipping. I will post back with the link.

BTW- I like many of capellas flavors. The Strawberries and Cream is delicious :)

Here you go EZ-Sweetz® Free Sample

I use about 1 drop per 3ml but you may like more if you like sweet :)

Thank you! I am refraining from ordering anymore until I start to actually mix this stuff up :p This is going to be insane! I'm going to keep scouring the threads and asking Q's so that when all of the rest of my orders come in, I hope to be ready! Wooohooo!
