I thought they had to be 3ml to replace the plastic housing and to be snug over the metal battery contacts section?

Just so we are clear, I was looking at replacing the plastic tubes, cause they crack so easily on the CE2's XL. I'm sure there are other plastic tubeing that could also do this job (something from the building / plumbing / electrical trades perhapes?) But I've heard of people using syringe housing before, so wanted to try it.

Not all 3ml syringes will fit snugly if you are using a syringe body to create a carto housing.
these are too wide:

these fit snugly :

somewhere there is a chart that shows the inside diameter of many syringes and the 3ml BD brand are the only ones that will fit to directly replace the clearo tubes. you will however want to get a set of the seals from a metal ce2 as they changed the clearos to a smaller seal. it will work in the bd syringe but barley. the metal ce2 seals fit nice and tight like they should. also if you cut the tip of the syringe off right at the end the tube is just a pinch smaller and will fit the clearo base tighter then the other end.

Ahh ok thanks! I'll see if I can track those down here in the uk somewhere.
What you want is the dimensions mentioned on the packaging of the BD syringe I showed. it's conveniently also showing quite distinctly on the chat that is in view behind the packaging. When looking for the correct syringe, look for those inner dimensions.
