It is not the same stuff, but DuckTape now has patterned tape. They even have it in sheets in the crafts area of WalMart. I used it for several months before I made the decision to put something more permanent, expensive, and pleasing on my VAMO.
Sign shops will have various vinyl where you should be able to use a high heat type similar to the wraps
I'm headed out to dinner, and don't have time to find it for you, but check in the MVP owners forum. There is a company listed in several posts that will send you free samples of a great material to use for wraps. Many of the MVP owners have gotten the free sheets and made some very good looking wraps with it for MVP's and other PV devices.
Also check on ebay for MVP wraps. There are quite a few that have sets that are very inexpensive. The wraps are probably big enough to use for other mods.
Self adhesive laminating sheets work and look exactly like clear jwraps (might be the same thing?) You can find it at Wal Mart in the office supplies section. I just wrapped a PV that way this morning.
I've been thinking about coating it with silicone; maybe using pvc for forming.
So far all I actually did was add 2 spots on my vamo so now if it's lying down it's unlikely to roll away.
Wow, some quick and good ideas. Going to check the MVP forum hoping they offer larger than, with no cut outs.
Google 3m vinyl. Also read into cerakote, plasti dip, and hydro dipping.
