I just started rebuilding my own coils, with the guidance of my distributor. 2 out of 3 were good, one obviously has a short, as when I installed it, after pressing the button on my ego style device, there were 3 quick flashes of the light. The others doesn't do it & are running around 2.4-.2.5 ohms (where I like it). The great thing was that I didn't have to lay a flavor wick on top, the coil having the only wick installed.

Awaiting 2 shipments, a 100 foot of TemCO A1 Kanthal 32 gauge wire & 6 feet of the ekowool 2mm braided wick, both were recommended my my distributor. The wire should be here by Saturday & the wick Monday, if not before.

Also, my distributor was concerned for my safety on this, so he sold me an Atomizer Ohm Meter that works with 510 & Ego coils. This will ensure that I get consistent results also.

It's going to take some practice & patience on this, but in the long run there will be a lot of cash saved. When needed, the rubber or silicone Resistance Insulators can also be purchased in the 10 packs for $4.49, less than the price of a 5 pack of KangerTech coils & are reusable many times.

Sounds like you have a helpfull distributor. Doesn't he deserve a mention?
Wouldn't surpise me if there are a few people from your town who come across ecf once in a while.

and now it's settled at 2.5. Weak hits. Whyyyyyyyyyy :( I feel like I fail at this, heh

The screws that hold the coil down will come loose with thermal cycling. I build micro coils, and pulse them before I wick them. I always re-tighten the screws before I button it up. I am not trying to sound snarky here, but it sounds like you need to watch a few vids on YouTube about how to build these things. There are lots of them out there.

You might want to try building micro coils wicked with cotton. You might find more consistency and success with them.

It's fine. Although, I have watched probably 12 or so videos on kayfun and russian 91 rebuilds. All the way through. Some videos I have watched several times

I am going to look into the center pin later today. That would explain a lot. My readings have always jumped all over the place every build.

I really disliked using cotton for the small coils I was doing, T3S/protank, since the chamber is so small, they seem to scorch at lightspeed. But with my new KFL+, I'm finding that cotton really is far superior for flavor.

I watched Busardo's video, comparing the KF with the russian, and also the coil-building part at the end. I'm wondering, are there any coil building videos that don't first get into the disassembling of the KF? I think I know how to take it apart now ;), but I'd love more insight on building/attaching -- especially the attaching; making the coil, wicking the coil, not too difficult at all once you've done it a few times, but getting the wires attached to those tiny screws gives me fits, makes me cuss like a sailor, and sometimes I just have to walk away and do a few laps around the living room just to be composed enough to sit back down and keep trying.

Any tips or insights on easy ways to do that, I'm all ears (er.. eyes?). :D

I always leave a long tail hanging off both sides of the drill bit or whatever you're wrapping it around. Then I loop one end around the screw and pull it across to the other deck so I can hold it taught with my non-screwdriver hand while I hold the whole rig, then tighten with my other hand. Leave your drill bit in there while you're looping it around the posts and then you can usually hold the bit with your index finger on one side and steady the other side of the bit while keeping that lead taught under your thumb. Then you have your other hand free to tighten the screws down. Don't know if that makes sense, but that's how I try to do it... Hang in there, you'll get it. My buddy got me onto rebuildables, and now I'm building them as good or better than him. Practice makes perfect!

Ok, I think I can visualize what you're saying. The last one, I did leave the bit in place while I mounted it, but I guess I just need longer tails, so my left hand can hold it against the whole thing while my right hand is tightening. Also I think I need to hold the WHOLE piece of wire in the flame (I use a lighter, don't have a torch, so I just go back and forth on the wire a few times with the lighter) instead of just the middle part, so there's not so much SPROING! factor in the ends. :D

MANY Thx!!!

Actually my distributor is a member of this forum & he tells us all about the forum & CASSA (with a pamphlet). But I don't know if he'd approve of me revealing his username. I'll have to ask.

I do know that my distributor goes by the business name of "Lunar Vapor e-cigs" locally, a husband/wife team, I mostly deal with him. Except for when he's out of town, then his wife will deliver my e-juice.

They both have other stable employment, but I've told them if they want exposure, this is the place to be.

I'd imagine there's quite a few around here that's on the ECF Forum, this I can say, I've been a member & moderator of Windows tech forums for years, not a single one (not even Tom's Hardware) is as huge as this one.

Just found out today that they have their own site. They have other flavors than what's listed, my favorite is their 11O'Clock Coffee blend, it's not cheap, but great at $13 for 30ml. Great Coffee flavor!
