I am still fairly new to vaping and still learning. I have an X2 and have some sample liquids coming from different companies. If I understand it correctly, dripping is a way of tasting the vapor a few drops at a time? Is there a way for me to do this with the X2? I have CE3s and some prefilled cartos from a sample pack.

is your X2 a manual? manual's are what you should use if you drip....also dripping requires an atomizer only no carto or clearos.... you can do it if you modify a carto and remove the filler.
X2 is a manual. Can you explain a little further what I need to do to the carto and what to do to sample with it?

there is a thread somewhere about it...let me see if I can find the link... this is not something we recommend doing necessarily so it is not standard.... you can also buy a 901 2.5ohm atomizer that will work as well... dripping just means that you are not filling up a carto but dripping directly on to the atomizer or in a carto directly on the atomizer wire.

just take a pair of tweezers and pull the wadding/filler out of the carto,,then drop a couple of drops of juice in it,,put it on your battery and take a puff,,,,,,you can use a auto batt,,,but a manual would be better.

very,very simple.

It really is easy, especially if you have the SI brand cartos, since those have horizontal coils. But some cartomizer brands have wires (coils) running vertically, and they break easily or come out with the filler. The Smokeless Image cartos work great for testing new juices; I do it all the time. As mudhill said, only drop 2 or 3 drops into it -- that's enough to give you several "taste test" vapes.
