I bought a Xtar VC8 on Mar 21 2022 and it died today May 15th. It wont turn on and smells burnt. My batteries thankfully are ok. Any ideas of what might have killed it? I really like it and it was supposed to be a good brand.
Problem is I purchased from Amazon. I am outside 30 day return period. I dont think Amazon will replace or repair.

I'll try that but when I looked at it it said only for chargers bought directly from them.
Say what?Buy another one from Amazon (if it was "sold by" a 3rd party seller try to buy from them again") Then a few days after you receive it, put in a ruetuen re

I think I'll do thatsee my last post
I just did. It says its authentic. Not that I have any faith in authenticity checkers because I have bought stuff directly from Eleaf and Aspire that say my authenticity code is not authentic loool, but did you check the authenticity code on you VC8's box?
It is a good brand. But like everyone, I'm sure XTRAR is not perfect and will have an early failure every once in a while.I really like it and it was supposed to be a good brand.

FWIW, I have a bunch of XTAR chargers -- all older VP1 and VP2s, some as old as 2014. The only problem I've had with them is the displays get dim after some years if they're left powered on continuously, so I've taken to unplugging them when not in active use.
I would rather have multiple 2-cell chargers than one 4, 6, or 8 cell charger for a couple of reasons:
1) I rarely charge more than two cells at a time.
2) I have backup chargers if one does die.
