I've tried them all. Always burn cotton. Didn't like silica, ecowool was OK. ReadyXwick is my favorite, wicks very well and can dry burn the wick. My builds with ReadyXwick last 4 months.

@SuperX - thanks....I think I have watched all your videos and learned a lot from them. It's really cool that people will spend the time to teach others.

Thanks all. I will be hitting a local shop here in Austin tomorrow after work for a drip tip and perhaps some cotton fibers.
