I tried my first BVC coil in my full size Nautilus on Friday.

First lesson: DO NOT dry fire these coil heads! It was something I used to do to check for duds on the original BDC heads - so I just did it... a brief fire before I put juice into the tank and screwed it back together. Oh unholy acrid lingering awfulness from the devil's nether-regions! Seriously just about the worst thing I have ever smelled...

I filled the tanks anyway thinking I could just vape through it. I thought it would just go away. Wrong. That burnt chemical, gaseous, nasty, putrid awfulness just tainted everything.

I loved the way it vapes but I had to throw that coil into some hot water to soak and put on a fresh one.

It's an awesome coil! I love it. It's consistent, great flavor, very round, saturated vape - amazing vapor production - yes I'm very impressed. I will stock up and keep these on hand! Sometimes I just need a fill-and-vape option and this fits the bill perfectly.

Cleaning - after soaking in hot water for a few hours I let the coil dry and the next morning it smelled fine. I haven't vaped with it yet though... I threw it in my vape box. I'll report back when I try it :)

Day 5 and 15+ml of juice on my first BVC coil, flavor and vapor are both still great!

I changed out the first coil (1.6 ohm) after 7 days, not sure I really needed to but I thought the flavor was fading. Should have kept track of how much liquid I ran through it, but I didn't. Second coil has been in for 7 days as of today and is still going strong, although I have not used it as much as the first one. (bought a new dripper and have been playing with that.

Had my first issue with one yesterday, dry hitting like crazy...

Any thoughts on what happened? I'm still loving the flavor, but I've only been using them for 2 weeks now....

To date my experience:

Bought a new mini that came with two BVC coils from local shop. They worked awesome. Not one issue with either coils. After 3-4 days started to notice a decline.

Then bought another mini that came with two BVC oils from 101. Also bought 3 5 packs. The coils that came with the mini, were just as good as the set from local shop.

Opened up one of the 5 packs and seem to have dry hits and such with the first two coils. I then loaded a third coil, primed it really good, and then sit over night. I have been making sure not to take long weak draws. So far the coil is as good as the ones that came with the new mini tanks. Not sure if the first two out of the pack were defective or if I didn't prime them properly. I do know, when home I have a tendency to do the slow weak draw and this could be causing them not to feed properly since the system is based on vacuum caused by sucking.

Megan can attest to this, but try soaking your used coil packs in vodka over night, agitate very well, then rinse and let dry 24 hours. You can probably get another week or so out of them. This goes for any changeable coil pack, not just the BVC coils. The short time I used Nautilus coils I did this. I could get 4 or 5 cycles out of the coil pack before the coil inside finally failed.

Yep, that's what I did. I will reuse it when the current one shows signs of decline....

Every time the new "game changing stock head" arrives I wait patiently for it to turn into the bees knees, and it fails. LOL

RDA.

You are correct sir, but I already had a full size Nautilus sitting here gathering dust, so I didn't really have a lot to lose. Nothing beats winding your own coils though...

I've had a but of gurgling and flooding issues with my last two BVC heads...

I'm going to get a Kayfun or Orchid clone someday soon...[emoji1]

I'd skip the RTAs and go directly RDAs if it were me... Kayfun's not bad, it's just fiddley.

Only time I had that, the base was screwed on a bit too tightly. It began by gurgling, then spitting, and then it flooded.
Thankfully, I had just been reading a thread on the BVC and saw what was likely to cause the gurgling and leaking.

Now I screw it on, but not too tight, and then slacken it off a very tiny bit. Had no problem since.

I just picked up a pack of the BVC replacements for the Nautilus and these coils really do make a world of difference. I put my Nautilus on the shelf after going through a couple of the bad coils and I've been strictly RBA and RDA since. I decided to grab a pack to give me an excuse to drop into the local B&M to see what's new there. When I got home, I dropped one of the original coils in the Nautilus and vaped it for a few minutes. It was OK, about what I remembered from a new Nautilus coil before it went bad. So I then took out the BDC and put in the new vertical replacement. WOW. Flavor doubled immediately and the vape was better. Now with these new coils, the Nautilus is going back in the rotation with my 2 KFL+ for on-the-go tanks.

LOVING the Nautilus BVC... It IS temperamental, especially with NT juice (no idea why), but i've learned the little tricks to keep it happy... Wicking can be an issue with long lung hits one after another.... Loosen the glass a little, see bubble, tighten, shake... no bubble? repeat.... place on small hole, few no-power hits, back at it... only if it starts to dry wick... but the flavor is friggin great.... I won't put NT in my PT2s.....

Well after a long time of using them I can honestly say they are the best pre-built coild heads I have used. Now I know that that it can't compare to an RDA but I have to say it does IMO blow away other clearmizers and their coils...It also has got me pretty interested in getting my hands on a carto tank and some cartos just to see what they're like.LOL I'm going backwards...

I do have plans though on getting a RDA or RTA soon and but its pretty hard to choose with how many are out on the market...any tips?

Because I'm just getting my feet wet and its my first time re-building I'm thinking One Kayfun-like rebuild-able & a nice RDA. I'd say around $20=$35 each but willing to go alittle higher if its worth it. I know I'll have to go clone or used if I'm lucky enough to find an used authentic in that price range. I'm more in the market of good flavor and than "Cloud chasing" and I'm not afraid of tinkering or adjusting.I don't if we can talk good and reliable sites on where to get purchase them from but that also would help alot! Thanks I really appreciate the help!

+1 for the BVC love here! I have so many tanks of every type that I'd have carpal tunnel by the time I finished listing them all but suffice to say that I have just about every one. I've YET to find any that match the across the board performance of the BVC that came in my Nautilus Mini! It just performs...everytime...great flavor great vapor production, yet to have any leaking, flooding or gurgling and have been using the SAME one (in heavy rotation) for over 4 weeks and have only cleaned it once (vodka soak)! I haven't changed flavors in it as it's become the residence of my BandStrawCampNilla (OMG, if you haven't mixed these two...) or my BandFreCampNilla (yes, OMG....again). Couldn't hold out for the return of BC and SN so I just ordered a few other bottles yesterday but will be saving for the next release of them!!

PS. People, DO NOT get anything less than 30-50ml of an SR Nicoticket juice!!!! Between the extremely high likelihood that you'll love it and the guaranteed ability to easily trade it on the Swap Thread if you don't.....you're setting yourself up for disappointment when you can't get your new ADV for a month or two!
