Hello All,
I bought my first e-cig on Nov 1, 2009. I haven't looked back.
Its hard to give up nicotine completely. I am one that can admit that.
I have, however learned more than my fair share...
Modding - mixing - rebuilding etc.
I do my own work. I make my own mods... I mix my own juice, and I can rebuild my own attys... I've made tanks etc...
The trick is to find what works for you.
I was 2-1/2 packs a day at almost $6 per pack when I bit the big one and bought a starter kit for a mere $50.
I had one atty, and two slim short batteries... The batteries lasted approx 2 hours, then, on the charger.
Mind you - I was vaping at 24mg with a 3 ohm atty on a 250mah battery (or there about)
The satisfaction was not really what I was looking for.
I learned how to mod - I watched countless videos (how few there were in November of 2009.)
I scoured any and all forums etc of ecigs.
I read every webpage I could find.
My thought was to make a high voltage ecig with improved battery life.
I opted for my first mod - a flashlight...
It worked great. 6v (Plain Lithium batteries from the big box store 3v each stacked for 6v. These were non-rechargeable)
6v with a 3 ohm atomizer was the shiznit for a throat hit and plenty of vapor.
Then the problem seemed to be the nicotine content... Just not getting it...
I learned that I could have 24+... so, I bought 36mg... Super High or whatever people called it in 2009~2010.
After the flashlight mod - I decided that I could use 14500 and/or 10440 batteries...
I built my first box mod - plastic - yes... It worked like a charm.
After the box mod - attys started dropping in OHMS... Low Resistance.
(also high resistance or "high voltage" attys)
I decided that a 14500 battery and a LR (at the time was approx 2ohms)
with out any lights, resistors, or any other complicated electronics parts would do just fine for me at 36mg's of nicotine.
Today - I have the very same box mod. I replace the small tactile switch about every 3~4 months.
I'm skilled in electronics ... for years I've known how to solder etc.
So... 4+ years later, this is where I'm at...
24mg of nicotine
1.5ohm atty
3.7v battery
and a home made mod.
about every 2 years (Due now) I have to replace the atomizer connector.
Its a very cheap habbit...
I mix my own juice. I order the nicotine from a fella here in the U.S.A.
( I'm not naming anyone or any business on this thread ~ sorry... There's plenty of info here on ECF)
I purchase the vegetable glycerin locally from a woman who is a baker. I order one gallon at a time...
That is also about due (takes about 2 years to consume a gallon of vg (I sell small quantities of juice to local friends at a fair price)
I used to sell box mods... Some people just don't get the concept of vaping... So, I quit modding for strangers, and just help out friends that are seriously wanting to quit and learn about this whole vast world of ecigs.
I can rebuild attys... I have the tools, parts, and knowledge to do so...
I'd rather toss a bad 510 and thread on a new one.
I don't do tanks often (unless on VERY LONG road trips)
I don't want the maintenance of it all...
I add one or two drops to my atty as needed.
The next 30mL bottle of mix, I will lower the nicotine a bit more...
Its taken me since July of 2013 to go from 36mg down to 24.
Baby steps for this gal... I really like using these... I've saved TONS of cash in the mean time.
So... If you are/were a heavy smoker, and you can't seem to find your niche...
Keep trying... Increase/decrease nicotine ... less or more PG or VG and increase/lower voltage...
also, dont forget the OHMs of an atty... High? or Low? Medium?
Marlboro smoker for over 30 years... at the end of my nasty habbit... I was 2-1/2 packs a day.
If I can do it... anyone can do it.
Metal mods do not work for me. I drain the battery too soon, and the overall production and performance of the mod dwindles.
If your ecig is not cutting it... maybe you need a plastic mod or a wooden mod with minimal metal on it.
(I can't wear a watch either - same thing - I drain the batteries and kill the device - what ever it may be.)
So... I'm not saying metal mods are bad... I'm bad for them.
Something to consider.
I hope you all enjoy your time on ECF. I sure have.
I've been content with my setup, and have not needed the assistance of ECF for many months (Looks like years I think).
I thought I'd just stop in and say hello, congratulations to all the former analog abusers out there.
Keep up the great work.
Keep up the great ideas on any type of mod... whether its attys, devices, tanks, drip shields/tips etc...
What ever it takes to make you quit an analog...
I keep my stuff simple (K*I*S*S --- Keep It Simple Silly) It works for me.
Happy Holidays
Happy Hanukkah
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year
and may you quit your analogs for the new year, and all the new years there after.
Please for your health, your family's health, and your pets health... quit those nasty cigarettes, and line your pocket with some ca$h
Pay off your debt with it... you'll be glad you did.
