Hello all,

Wow, a year and 2 days have passed since I picked up my first kit and started vaping. I still can't really believe it's been that long, and while my sig is brutally honest, I still consider it a year since I quit.

Why, you ask?

Well, on March 29th, 2013 I bought an eRoll kit. It was a Friday, and as soon as I started using it, I realized that this was going to kill my PAD smoking habit. The next day I tried a couple of cigarettes and was not impressed. My first post here on ECF was 4/2/2013.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-i-love-smoking-ill-probably-never-quit.html

I had 1/2 a pack sitting on my kitchen counter for 3 weeks with nary a thought about wanting one.

I've had two stumbles - the first a little over a month in, when I smoked 5 a day for a week but still vaped. I was entirely smoke free for another 3 months, until about 5 months in when a chronic illness was discovered (that smoking had ironically kept in check) and I smoked 2 a day for a month while my medication was taking effect. I didn't enjoy it, but it was helping me physically through the transition, as weird as that sounds. That last cigarette was on Sept 8th.

So while I did have a couple of smoking incidents, they were short lived, and I never went back to smoking anything close to the 20 a day I had for 30 years. I consider smoking 65 cigs in a total of a little over a month, over the course of a year, pretty much quit. vaping was that much more attractive to me.

At this point I see smooth sailing ahead. It's been almost 7 months since that last smoke and I have not had any significant craving since. I'm looking forward to when I can announce my 1 year smoke-free anniversary. I am still stunned that I've been able to stop so easily, even with the struggles that I've gone through this past year and I thank everyone on ECF and especially this thread:

for being there for the ups and downs.

I'm posting this because I am proud of myself and amazed at the same time, and I am truly grateful for vaping and ECF. I also want to help encourage anyone who is struggling to STAY WITH IT, and be patient with yourselves...it may not be as easy as others, or as quick, but it CAN work, and it DOES happen.

See you on the other side! :headbang:

Congrats!!!!

Sounds like you are a fellow Colitis sufferer. Probably helped things that you smoked during the flare-up. Hope it's gotten under control 4you.

Thank you, it has for the most part. And thankfully no, it's not Colitis. My autoimmune disorder resides in my neck. :D

Alkaloids in tobacco (specifically anatabine) have been linked to anti-inflammatory properties, as well as helping to inhibit the production of anti-thyroid antibodies.
