Yup, its dead. Not an excuse but heres what my last 2 weeks have been like. (keep in mind I aint no doctor so my terms may be off)

Two Saturdays ago I had to take my pops to the ER because he couldnt breathe. They admitted him and kept him for 5 days and did nothing but breathing treatments 3x a day. The sixth day he was transferred to another hospital to have different procedures. They decided to do a heart cath on him as well as adding a pick line for dialysis. The line was scheduled for Friday morning (Veterans Day) and the cath was scheduled for that afternoon. The pick line was supposed to be a simple procedure- 30 minutes for procedure, 30 minutes recovery and back to the room.

When they tried to put him under, he coded/flat lined. They worked on him for 2 hours, a half hour total time he was legally dead. They had to do old school CPR on him, cracking 4 ribs in the process. He finally stabled out enough to go to MICU, but had 3 types of life support- an external pace maker, breathing tube and a 24 hr dialysis machine hooked to him. My sister came to visit and for 2 days he was unresponsive. On the third day, he started to communicate using his finger to draw letters, that was Monday. By Wednesday of this week, he was off all life support. Thursday he went to a regular room and last night he actually came home.

I dont think he is ready to be here and I am appealling their decision to discharge him, but he so far has been doing ok. He can not walk very well because of the cath in his groin, which was removed yesterday afternoon. We have be battling with him retaining liquid- around his heart and in his lower legs. His legs swell so big that it splits the skin and liquid around the heart and lungs causes congestive heart failure. In one 24 hour period, they removed 6 liters of fluid. His legs are actually wrinkled which is the first time I have ever seen them do that.

Anyway, thats not really an excuse for not being here, but it is what I have been dealling with. And Freakie, I promise to get that piece in the mail today or Monday at the latest, along with your movie.

Damn, sorry to hear about your Dad having trouble again Mutt. You have every right to be concerned about them discharging him while he's retaining fluids around his heart and lungs, that's some serious issues. I can't understand how they could discharge him without waivers or a written acknowledgement that he'd be requiring in home healthcare from a trained professional! I'm with Freaky on sending you strength through the mail if I could, I guess the internet will have to do.
