Hello!

Been lurking here for about a month trying to see which e cig would be best for me. I have been smoking for about 15yrs (32yrs old now), but more lightly recently (5-6 American Spririt BLUE). What I can't see giving up is the "act" of smoking...the ritual of it all and the smoke, of course.

I just received the Vapor King yesterday and am going to have my last tobacco cig tonight.

Was anyone else apprehensive about actually starting with the vape when you first got your e cig? I don't know why, but I'm a bit scared to first try it. For some reason that fear isn't over me when I'm about to inhale a bunch of actual smoke. lol

Anyway - great forum, and thanks for knowingly helping me decide where to turn for my first e cig.

BTW - thanks to Vapor4Life for throwing in about 5 extra carts in my order. :)

Andy

Hi Andy!

I wasn't apprehensive, I was excited and couldn't wait!

There are some flavors where the level of the th took me completely by surprise though, and I've learned to treat them with lots of respect. (The coffee from V4L being the biggest one out of the ones I've tried. Love it immensely but now approach the first vape with caution.)

Thanks, jlmanno! I was 1-2 packs a day for a long time, but recently made it down to the 5-6/day...as long as I'm not drinking...then it's back up to a pack.

I have that Coffee! Thanks for the warning. I did get all 11mgs...just to test the water. I figure I can move up and down from there after a get the hang of it.

I'll have to post tonight after my last American Spirit and my first Vape.

welcome andy!
I think a lot of us were at first a little scared.. dont let it scare you..

vaping is great and will help you get off cigs..

it will satisfy your cravings pretty well... anytime you have the urder to light one up, just start vaping your head off.. the cravings will leave soon enough.. take it day at a time.. good luck!

Welcome Doc.
(the following is just my opinion...)
Personally I think it is easier if you don't even try to quit smoking and set a "last cig" and all that. That's too much work. Just start vaping. Smoke when (if) you want; vape when you want. If you are like most, the smoking will just go away on its own. I've been vaping 5-6 months, but I still don't think of myself as a "non-smoker". Although I do still smoke (kinda), I think the one cig a month is not doing too much damage. At least not as much damage as the ~1240 cigs a month I used to smoke ;)

Thanks for the advice! I had one left in my pack, so I just wanted to make a clean break, so to speak. Been going pretty good so far!

How long will an "open" cart be good for? I tried the V4L Parliament today, but is there any harm in putting that one aside for awhile and switching flavors? I'm pretty sure that's not a problem, so I guess my question is about the shelf life of an already used cart.

Hi Andy & welcome aboard! I think I know what you mean about being apprehensive. I'm 35 and had smoked for about 15 years too. I had tried a number of times to quit and I think that I went into vaping with the hope this would be the method that worked for me.

Therefore, I think that I was probably more apprehensive in case this didn't work and I had another failed quitting attempt under my belt. Glad to say that after the first few hours of vaping I was a convert! Just passed the 1 month marker without a cig so it has worked for me. Hope you have a positive experience and find the alternative you are seeking. Let us all know how you get on.

Just the other day I pulled one of my first ecigs out of a box in the closet that had been in there untouched for over four months. I was pretty surprised that, not only the batt had held the charge all that time, but it also still tasted fresh. And definitely lots fresher than that half-pack of smokes I have out in my car that I've been working on for about 5 months :p
I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Spot on, and well stated.

Thanks for the words, and I'll try to post often!

Don't worry if you have a few smokes at first - I mean really don't worry about it. Those will be 'the day you had some smokes' not the 'day you failed'.
I didn't give up smoking for a couple weeks at first just was less n less every day until the day I forgot to have any. Having one or 2 a day at first didn't trouble me as I had put no expectations on myself (can't tell ya how important that is), and just got used to learning to vape. Longer slower draws are better than short fast ones for example.
Also: getting really good juices is a MUST imo. Makes the experience so much easier.
Good luck and welcome!

I've heard two weeks stated but I've vaped ones that I've tried then recapped and set aside for a couple of months with no problem. I recap any that will sit more than a day. The juice is good for two years so I am not sure where the two week thought came from.

According to Jane (Kick e-Juice) it keeps for 6 months sealed and 2 years when refrigerated. (I gladly accept donations if you can't finish your liquid supply in 2 years time :) ).

I'm not sure if it goes bad like Milk (smells bad, tastes bad, etc.) or if it turns into something not so healthy to inhale?

Looking over all the juices and juice options is a daunting task... Any help would be appreciated. Who's got the best?

You'll get a lot of answers on this one because everyone has their own personal preference.... but I like Totally Wicked for their variety of flavors... my favs are Spearmint and Vanilla (but they're expensive) and EcoPure from Cignot.com (my favorites are Rich and English Toffee) I've heard it's one of the purest available. There's also Rath juice available from a few suppliers, it's USA made. I haven't tried Rath juice yet.

Also... there was a poll done on the liquid that members would recommend to a newbie here.
