Yes I smoked it, but I didn't inhale (Well. Alright, that's a lie)

Hey everyone,

I was doing some reading and saw that most of the nicotine in vapor is absorbed sublingually via tissue in the mouth and sinus. I saw some articles and posts expressing concern about inhaling vapor due to irriation and worry about whether or not some of the ingredients in liquids could be harmful to your lung tissue. Now, I always inhale when I'm vaping and since I've pretty much quit smoking analogs my lung function has gone way up. I'm sure my lungs would be happier if the only thing I was putting into them was pure air but compared to smoking a cigarette I don't really see any harm in inhaling vapor if I'm not experiencing any negative side effects, at least short-term...

I guess my question to you all would be what are your thoughts on this? Have any of you long-term vapors experienced any issues with your lungs in association to inhaing vape? Do you always inhale or just let it steep in your airway?

Hi KarlH007. I've been vaping for a little over 26 months, smoke free for about 20 months. I inhale nearly every time. My lung function has greatly improved and while this may be coincidence only, I have only had one 3 day cold a little over a year ago. I used to be chronically sick...on about a 2-3 month cycle. So far, so good here. YMMV

Pending long term studies (i.e., following vapers around for decades monitoring their lung function), we can't say we know in an absolute sense.

The effects of smoking, however, are catastrophic and thoroughly documented—and we do know that since 2003 (when the e-cigarette was reinvented), the number of deaths that can be traced to it is zero.

Sorry for such a vague answer. I inhale and chain vape all day. I used to smoke a pack a day and I had trouble breathing, even walking for short distances. I vape more more than I ever smoked and I no longer have shortness of breath and I can participate is pick up games of ultimate frisbee again. I'd say vaping has helped me a lot.

I haven't smoked for a year, and I find now that I don't inhale hardly at all. Initially TH was important to me, and lots of visible vapor was good reinforcement for me at the beginning. Now, not so much. As long as I get flavor and nic (started @ 24mg, now vape 10mg), I am happy. And healthier. YMMV

My lung capacity in just 2 months of vaping has soared. Walking distances that would have had me wheezing before pose no problems whatsoever now- my legs are getting tired way before I start breathing hard, and granted, it doesn't take a marathon to wear my legs out (bad ankles, bad knees, peripheral neuropathy, general wimpiness), but still, it's a profound change for me.
