I have been looking around at various models of pen style ecigs and I have come across many. Just one dumb question....why only one atty for two batteries?

Absolutely true. You must have spare attys. In fact, you must have spare everything. Juice, attys, batts, and a spare charger.
So, just buy two of the pen style that comes with only 1 atty. But still, 2 attys is not really enough. You really should have at a minimum 2 spares.
speaking of pen styles, does anyone know where to get nerd clips anymore? (nerd-clip = pocket clipyou could attach to any roundish nerd device [logic probe, highlighter, tachyon beam generator, anything without its own pocket clip already present.])
My e-cigs would like to be fixed in place; the ones not in cases keep dropping out of my pocket and if the sensor breaks, that's 10 bucks wasted. I have one E9 battery that I can only smoke when it is absolutely vertical.

Ebay has metal electronic cig holders for around $5-7. They have a clip on the back but not sure if it would be long enough for a pennstyle. If you look and find one, ask the seller about its length. Also, there are the cases for reading glasses. Walmart carries them. They are slightly longer and have a clip. Just some ideas to throw your way.
^^ Also, my local dollar store carries cheapie mechanical pencils in which these lil clips come right off of and fit my E9, check maybe Dollar Tree/Dollar General
I went with pencilthings; the "spring" clips are perfect for x-power, the "sticky" clips are good for conventional sizes.
