New vaper here. I bought my first ecig about a week ago, and I am almost completely off of "analogs". Little did I know how deep this community is! Everyone seems nice and helpful, and thanks to great advice I've seen on this forum I just took the plunge and ordered an mvp 2. Looking forward to getting to know some of my fellow vapers!

sorry but i have to contradict you this a very inexpensive hobby more so if you smoke 2 packs a day lets do the math :).
here cigs are around $7 per pack x2 = $14/day x30= $420 you are spending on analogs.
your first month buy a provari lets say $160 that leaves you 260 for what ever fashion you want to smoke carto/clearo etc lets say two tanks at around $20-30 each that leaves you 200
bats can be had for $10 per pair of efest 18650 x2 that leaves you $180. charger around $17 ,juice lets say you spend the rest on juice at say $15 /30ml x 11 now you have spent about the same thing you would in a month but actually have closer to a 60 day supply!! so over the course of 2 months that's a possible $420 savings without spending another dime ! after that its all gravy spending only $90 per month instead of $420. now this is just a guesstimate of juice usage but still by quitting analogs well the savings speak for themselves not to mention getting rid of the stink sticks. hell you can even allow yourself a new device each month and still save a good amount of money.

If you have a smartphone, there are programs that will allow you to track the your savings over time. I'm sure the same can be found for the pc on the interwebs. All you have to do is search for vape or vape calculator or some such lingo. Like the person above me has clearly laid out, the saving can be phenomenal. Twice that if you are married and you can get your better half to switch as well...

According to my calculator, I quit analogs Dec 21, 2013. I have spent $136.94 on Vaping accessories, and will break even Dec 31, 2013. I have some other stuff coming that hasn't been figured in to these numbers yet, but I also haven't received them yet either.

Anyways, that's a pretty quick turnaround on investment, and I will be improving my living conditions and health as well.

And really when you factor in the health benefits it's an even better deal in the long term.

Seriously, every penny you spend to not smoke a cigarette is worth it, and worth 10,000 more. I saw up close and personal what lung cancer is like, I don't pay attention to what I spend at all. I'd still be doing this if it were 3x as much (which was pretty close with Blu).

It's not a deal - you're saving your own life. That's priceless.

It's funny that you mention lung cancer... The last time I quit analogs was early December of 2013 when my Grandfather (only father figure I ever had) was in the hospital with lung cancer that had spread all over his body. Thanks to BluCigs I kicked the habit. That is until I had to fight with the hospital case managers to keep my grandfather from basically being kicked out on some b.s. loophole technicality with medicare. I fell back into the habit, and now, a year later, while dealing with lawyers and estate matters and all of that fun stuff, I'm trying to kick it again. I think this time the tech is there to help me quit. Sorry for the rambling, but in short, yes, cancer is an ugly affair, and one that should be avoided at ALL Costs.

The good part about vape gear is that once your done with it and ready to get something else there is always someone else that will buy it. I have used the classified section here on ECF quite a few times when I wanted new toys. So its an investment with returns when you are done with them. Its not like your just throwing money down the toilet they serve their purpose and then you move on.... Unless you break the SOB first!

I had to do the math, as it felt like I was spending a fortune. I got two starter kits and a truckload of juice but never looked back. Saved £350 in the first 30 days and spent less than half that on setting up. I've been looking through the mods and other goodies you can get and can see how this could end up being a full time hobby, which I have absolutely no issues with whatsoever :D

While reading this thread, I was trying to put a price on some of the things that have happened to me while quitting analogs. Things like not spending so much on spices, because now I can actually taste my food. Not waking up hacking and coughing for two hours every morning... Priceless! Having a better shot at seeing my Grandbabies have babies of their own. And then there's belonging to a great new community and then there is the fact that I can show my children that it's possible to kick a 40 year habit, and they can too!!!

Welcome to the ECF Joey.

Yet another expensive hobby?

I guess. I was spending about $175/month on something that was Killing me. With the Exception of the 2 Times I bought a Provari, I have never Exceeded that Amount on e-Cigarette Hardware/e-Liquids.

And I have Bought a LOT of e-Cigarette Hardware.

Most months I average about 20 Bucks on DIY e-Liquids.
