I'm pretty new to this whole e-cig thing. I started because I, like many of you I suppose, was looking for an alternative to cigarettes.

It began with a trip to the local drug store for Blu and NJoy disposables. Meh. Neither were the solution I was looking for. I couldn't get into the Blu flavor and the NJoys are just too damned expensive IMO.

A friend of mine was nice enough to spend over an hour on the phone with me, trying to explain the myriad of options out there for e-cigs. Off to the local smoke shop I went, having forgotten just about everything he told me. I walked out with a 650mah eGo-style kit and some juice. Cool. Then another trip to a different smoke shop a few days later resulted in a 1100mah batter, a couple Protanks and some more juice. Now I've got a K100-101 coming in with a bunch of different tanks/atomizers/etc and even more e-juice.

My last "real" cigarette was Monday morning. It's now Friday morning and I'm sleeping better, coughing much less and generally feel better than I have in a while. There's no way in hell I'd be able to do that without the e-cigs after ~14 years of smoking cigs. At least without being an absolute miserable human being to be around.

I switched over about a month ago and haven't touched a regular cig since. My apartment nor my clothes smell like an ash tray any longer and you can't beat the flavor. Its nice to be able to just grab a puff when you need it and not have to 'waste' a cig when you don't have the time. Loving the convenience.

Stick with it. Your body will thank you for it. =)

Good job! It will take a while but hopefully it can help to stop smoking :)

I hope so.

I've quit smoking a couple times over the last decade and a half, but it's always been absolutely miserable and never lasted more than a few months. This is the first time I've come across what I think could be a legitimate alternative to giving R.J. Reynolds my money in exchange for tarring up my lungs. Tried the gum with no luck. Same with the patches. This, though, is freaking fantastic.

My sense of smell is so trashed I'm not even sure how bad my place still smells. I've never smoked inside, but just the amount of smoke that was transferred into my room on my clothes alone is probably substantial.

I'm in Beaverton myself. Nice to see another local person on here.

Welcome to ECF - best place on the web for talking e-cigs :) I love this place already. I have been analog free for over a month and so has my husband all thanks to e-cigs and I honestly NEVER thought I would see the day my husband quit smoking the stink sticks. As for the both of us, I have had no nicotine withdrawals but a lot of the symptoms from quitting smoking such as some weight gain, headaches and quit zits along with a few not so nice bodily functions but totally 100% worth all of it to know that we are no longer smoking and these are just a few inconveniences that will pass quickly

Representing the PNW! :2cool:

I hadn't noticed the smell either till i quit. After a few weeks you can walk in to a room and tell if someone has been smoking in it. Get an air purifier and let it run a few days. You'll notice a difference and you'll feel even better about your decision.

I've already noticed some new smells. Like the air freshener in my bathroom. The only way I could smell it before was if I shoved my nose within a couple inches of it. Now, BAM! Raspberries the second I walk in the door. I'm really looking forward to my sense of taste recuperating. There are so many things I've learned to cook in the last 10+ years that I've never tasted as a non-smoker.

Out of curiosity, where are you buying your juice locally? I've been to a couple places so far buy wasn't happy with the selection in one and the service in the other.

Still sorting that one out. I tend to look for shops with tasters available. There is a nice little tobacconist on Walker that has a decent selection and the staff is very friendly. They mainly carry juice though. There selection of mods and tanks is a little thin. Tried the 2 shops in Old town Beaverton. One, the staff knew very little about vaping and tried to sell me a knock off of an itaste vv and the other was just too expensive though they had a pretty nice selection.

A few Co-workers are big in to vaping and i cant for the life of me remember the place he recommends. I know its in Portland though.

Is the one on Walker called Timber Valley?

I've been to one on Broadway and Hall (Old Beaverton? - still pretty new to the area) where I felt the guy helping me was completely clueless. I almost bought a mechanical mod kit there, but the guy had no idea how it worked or whether it was worth owning. I've also been to a place on TV Highway. The staff was helpful enough and nice, but their selection of juice was pretty limited.

That's possibly what amazes me the most and what gives me the most hope that this will stick... I've got a brand-new pack of Camels sitting on the windowsill of my bedroom and I've had zero inclination to open it up. My Zippo is sitting on my desk about a foot away from my keyboard as I'm typing this, along with two more Zippos sitting in a cup next to the pack of Camels. No desire to mess with any of that crap.

It does kind of suck, though. I just bought myself a new Baltimore Orioles Zippo a month or two ago that is now going to be next to useless.

Yup Timber Valley is the one. Broadway and hall sounds like Tony's. Wasn't super impressed with them either. They were the ones that tried to sell me the innokin knockoff. A used display no less. There's also Henry's on SW 1st. Little tiny place. Decent selection of mods, tanks and tips. Ok for Juice just a little over priced.

Old town Beaverton is basically right there. All those little boutique shops between Canyon and Beaverton-hillsdale highway.

I may have to give Timber Valley a try. I'm set on mods and whatnot (for now) so I'm just looking for consumables.

Thanks for clarification on Old Town. I thought that's what you meant, but I wasn't 100% sure. And yeah, it was Tony's. Nice selection of hardware, though.
