Hello All,

I was introduced to the forum by a friend of mine who goes by LVC on here.
Our story is pretty much the same
Been vaping for a month now, and loving every moment of it. Since I would go through a half carton of analogues every two days before starting to vape, I still get a bit of the craving for it every little while, but I'm working through it. I live in the Toronto area, and I'm using a Joye 510; already have the feeling like I will be switching to an eGo or something with a longer battery life within the next two months or so.
I find myself chain-vaping, but at least now there's not all that analogue junk going into my system as when I was chain-smoking.

Though I still find myself itching for an analogue when I do have them around the house. When I do not have any laying around I don't find the need to have an analogue at all. Ho hum.

Welcome to ECF Vanyr. Best of luck with the vaping and hopefully you will soon find that those smokes do not temp you any longer even if they are in the house :)

Thank you. :) I've no idea what keeps tempting me to have any that are lying around the house. It couldn't be nicotine as I'm just fine when I have the E-Cig on it's own. I think it might just be the smell of the analogue itself burning... though I'm not entirely sure. Someday soon we'll figure it out.

Am I the only one who hasn't actually quit smoking.~ Just replaced it with vaping? Lol.

Nope, you're just one of the "dual users" the Anti Nicotine & Tobacco Zealots (ANTZ) warned us about! ;)

...actually, VP-Live is doing a show about this topic tomorrow: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/media-general-news/231393-dual-user-vp-live.html

Seriously tho, I didn't intend to quit smoking when I started but after a few days of mostly vaping my senses of smell and taste started to heal and pretty quickly I found that I didn't really like the taste of cigarettes anymore...and certainly not as much as I like the taste of vapor in whatever flavor I want with bigger plumes than I could ever get from a cigarette.

Some people, however, still feel like something is "missing" when vaping nicotine without the other chemicals in tobacco....In that case, you can still become smoke-free by using whole tobacco products like Swedish-style snus or dissolvables and new e-liquids are being developed that use Whole Tobacco Alkaloids (WTA) to address this need. The other alkaloids include Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI) which is what gives tobacco the "calming" effect even though nicotine is a stimulant: MAOI's combined with Nicotine is what really makes tobacco so addictive. Some people don't really need the nicotine but just want the physical activity and/or the visual stimulus of seeing the exhaled vapor, some people continue to crave cigarettes if they don't get enough nicotine, some people need the other alkaloids in tobacco, and some people need all 3. Everyone is different and the great thing about vaping is that you can customize it to fit your individual tastes.... If you haven't found a vape that you like better than smoking, you haven't finished looking. :2cool:

I replaced smoking with vaping. I still love my nic and have no intentions of giving it up...vaping is just too damn tasty. If you're still having cravings, I suggest getting a higher mg strength of nic and vape it when the cravings hit...it works. I keep a couple bottles around for those days and I've been smoke free since 8-19-2010...there will always be triggers to make me want a cig but I don't allow myself to cave in.

Hey where did you hear about this new type of e-liquid? It sounds very interesting and might be something I'd like to try.

HI. I'm wondering about this MAIO thing. Is it most e-liquids containing or just some? How do I know if the ones I'm using have these MAOIs? (I think the liquids I'm using right now are from dekamp.. something like that.. Liberty Liquids anyway). Guess I'll have to be asking this question of the vendors. Unfortunately I have to take several prescription medications and I know I've been asked previously.. like year ago or more... if I've taken a MAOI med in the last 2 weeks or currently (I forget which medications interact with em.. don't think its what I need to take right now tho). But it bothers me that I never knew this about the liquids. If these chemicals had been in cigarette smoke to a degree that they would interact with the meds, I would have known that so I'm wondering if its not a tiny amount or something added to the e-juices? Anyone know about what I'm taking about.. that interaction that causes hypertension crisis, etc with MAOI?? Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks!

When I first got a PV, I still used true cigarettes because I was way way addicted and up to 3 packs a day often.. hard to give that up without a whole lot of anxiety! So I did both from like June last year to December 4, 2010 when my husband and I went to the patches. So then I was a patch and an e-cig user.. but I hadn't found an e-cigarette that had very good vapor production or a battery that would last so I wasn't "into" them until I found the Joyetech eGo's. But isn't it good to just decrease the number of real smokes you use? I think its pretty natural to have like an emotional type attachment to cigarettes or maybe "emotional" isn't what I mean.. more just really Anxiety-provoking to think of not have one if you really really needed one! So I kept 2 hidden in my dresser until just a few months ago.. kind of a security blanket type thing, I guess. Finally I let my 12 year old shred those 2 and boy was he happy to do that!!! I should have taken a pic of the very happy look on his face while shredding those 2! lol I think he had wanted to do that to all my cigarettes for like 8 years!

I'm not sure what it is in a cigarette that i seem to "miss" when i vape. I enjoy the taste of vaping more then analogs, I like the throat hit better then analogs, and when I finish a real cigarette I always feel a little queezy after... something that never happens when I vape, but for some reason cigarettes still attract me and I believe that its just the fact that I had smoked them for so long that I feel like I'm missing out, or not getting the real thing.

I vape 100% now and am glad I do, but I have a feeling that I'll always have a urge to lite on up when I look at someone smoking or when I'm hanging out with my friends at a bar. Hopefully over time I'll lose that urge.
