Yet Another Newbie

A big 'hi' to everyone. I'm another newbie who's just about ready to take the plunge and order my first e-cig, well, two actually - but more about that in a mo.....:D

Like many folk in the UK, I saw the recent BBC TV report on e-cigs and those guys vaping away inside a Midlands pub and I thought - WOW !! This could be for me.....

A couple of searches on the internet led me to this wonderful forum and can I please take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has contributed. The excellent advice and information found here has been and continues to be inspirational, downright helpful and very humorous - an absolute joy to read.

Later this week sees me purchasing my first e-cigs. I looked at the 901 (mini) and the RN4081 (super) and I really couldn't make up my mind which one to buy. So, I've decided to go for both....:)

Two reasons. Firstly, I wanted something that resembled an analog as closely as possible. The 'super' fits the bill there. I also chose the 'mini' as I'm under the impression that it is more economical that the 'super'. To me, definetely a win-win situation. Secondly, I plan to treat the 'super' as a back-up device, should something go horribly wrong with the 'mini'. I really want to avoid the analogs at all cost once I'd gotten use to vaping. Naturally, I'll be stocking-up with atomizers, batteries and plenty of carts during my initial purchase. I'm itching to try all these wonderful sounding flavours - strawberry, vanilla and apple (showing my age but I always think of that great record label....) In time, I'll even give the liquid a try.

I've been on those darned analogs for what must be 30 years plus at an average rate of 20 a day, and it's time to stop. So, wish me luck as I start my journey down the e-cig road, and I'll let you all know how I get on.

Thanks for reading and, once again, thank you for all the wonderful messages on this excellent forum. An absolute font of e-cig knowledge.

Best wishes to all.......:thumb:

Will do, Shann - and thanks for your support. I guess that I'll receive the package sometime early next week and I'm gonna be like a kid at Christmas unwrapping that parcel. Can't wait.....

Hehehe, I remember that all too well. Heck, I still get that way with any new flavors or anything I order. The wait's a killer...but sooooooo worth it!

Where are you buying your stuff from Sos? Do you like fruity flavours or are you looking for a tobacco taste?

Welcome to the forum, make yourself at home.
Hi Kate. Thanks for the welcome. Everyone seems so friendly here, a wonderful forum and a credit to everybody. I plan to place an order tomorrow (Oct 30) with e-cigs.co.uk. Simon really helped me out with some questions I had earlier in the week so I'll be placing my initial order from there. As for flavours, I really don't know. The ones I've mentioned certainly appeal, mind you, so does the minty menthol as well. I guess I have to learn to walk before I can run. All part of the adventure......

Well Sos...you could just get one of every flavor and try them all out! Oh wait, that's something I would do...hehe.
Hi Shann. Trying out all these different flavours is going to be a real gas - I can see it coming. Now let's see. I wonder if there is such thing as extra hot chili / chilli flavour. That'll be something else...

Ooooh, I could go for that. Or at least a Jalapeno flavor! Would love to find a cinnamon as well. It could be like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory with Nicotine!!! :D

You can't get better than ecigs.co.uk, Smokester is very good. There are lots of flavours to try, I'm afraid I can't advise you because I haven't tried any from there apart from the generic cartridges.

When you are buying your kits, put your forum name on the Paypal order form and Smokester will send you some extra cartridges free. He usually delivers very quickly too, next day in a lot of cases.

Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to the party Sosjander, e-smoking is a bit different from normal analogs, but stick with it for a couple of days and it really is surprising how quickly it does grow on you, to the extent you find you actually prefer them to the old dirty ones ! Btw if you do find that chilli flavour, let us know eh :p.

Hi NK. Thanks for the welcome. Really looking forward to receiving the parcel next week and I'm sure that I'll get used to vaping pretty quickly. As you rightly say, give it time... I really want to knock the smelly ol' analogs right on the head. None of my friends or family members (smoking & non-smoking) are aware of my purchase so it'll be a total shock for them. You never know, I may even be able to convert the smokers I know over to ecigs. Wouldn't that be great?

Hi, and welcome Sosjander.

I'm trying to get smoking co-workers and friends to try this as well. They seem to have a bit of suspicion to the whole e-smoking thing that just sort of holds them back. So...

Once you get your stuff and get used to it, and come to love it as most of us have, pop in a fresh cart you don't care anything about losing and let your friends-family-coworkers have a toke or two.

Watch their eyebrows raise, and them send them to your favorite supplier...

God... I sound like I'm training a drug dealer , but if it keeps them off the real cigs - then so much the better. :D

Hi Sixstring. Many thanks for the encouragement. You're absolutely correct with the suspicion to the whole aspect of e-cigs, after all, it's still all quite new. When I think that I've analoged for more than 30 years and, at my smoking rate, that equates to around a quarter of a million ciggies. It's amazing what garbage I've pushed into my body - not to mention the financial cost :( There has to be a better way and hopefully, this is it :)

Really looking forward to receiving my goodies and I'll let everyone know how I get on. I think that waiting eight hours for the batteries to tale their first charge will seem like eight days :D

Good luck sosjander. I've smoked for over 35 years and been on 30 a day for most of that time - got my e-cig 5 days ago and have smoked 9 analogues since.

.....i guess a adding a bottle wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Now then, what flavour shall i go for ???

Go for the 38mg stuff without fancy flavourings first - it's a strong enough nic hit to keep the analogue craving at bay and if it's too strong you can dilute it with glycerine.

....i plan to place an order tomorrow (oct 30) with e-cigs.co.uk....

If you haven't already done so check out the coupons thread:

Hi Sos, I've had my 901 since last Friday and only had 2 analogues since then. As for your question about flavours, the standard carts to me don't taste so good but so far I've tried the cherry and strawberry and both seem pretty good. Best of luck mate!
Hi Firewire, you've had only two real cigs since last Friday? Well done, my friend :) I've now placed my order which consisted of 2 starter kits plus spare atomizers, batteries, loads of tobacco carts plus an assortment of different flavours on the side (I'm just inquisitive) - all at 18mg. Oh, and some juice as recommended by other folk on this thread.

I spent around £200 on this initial order  But then again, my 20 a day analog habit costs £160 a month. Hopefully once my order arrives, there'll be one less addict at the cigarette kiosk in the local supermarket, in a queue that's always at least 10 yards long :D Will let you all know how I get on in due course :thumb:
