I have been reading all the post for a week now. Ordered a nice DSE901 starter kit yesterday. Now I'm so excited about becoming a vape instead of a analog I cant hardly take it.

I'm 44 and have been smoking since I was 14.

Heart and lung Asso visited my 9 yr olds school. So he has been laying some super, heavy duty guilt on me.

I Dont smoke in the family house or cars so I am constantly excusing myself or thinking about my next opportunity. When the wife is gone I cant sneak away for a smoke because my daughter is Autistic and need constant supervision. When we travel as a family we have to stop at times just so I can smoke. Which of course means standing out in the cold or rain to do so.

I really hope these things live up to whats been said here. I should get my kit by the end of next week.

I think I have to quit visiting here until then, because the local smoke shops have all the badly reviewed cigs available and I am afraid I will cave and buy junk become disillusioned and give up before I start. I have already laid it on the line for the family telling them I am going to take another run at quitting by the end of next week. There all cheering.

I really really hope this turns out the way I want it to. If it doesnt then you all are a bunch of troublemakers:yawn:

Bssage,

If you really want to stop with analogs this can work. I am analog free for 15 days and no longer am obsessed with having a "real cigarette". I had to fight the urge for a while though since the results of vaping are different than smoking analog.
You can do this if you really want and can still enjoy the vaping experience with few nicotine withdrawal issues. Good Luck!

For some the change comes easy, others not so easy.
I hope its smooth sailing for you, but if not, stick with it.
Smoke free for over a year now, working on nicotine free for a year (June 9).
Just remember it doesn’t have to be an overnight miracle, and there is a learning curve.
Just in case you do come back, I’d spend a little time reading up on how to do things while you’re waiting.

Good luck to you.

I have been smoking since I was 19 and am now 33... I was a heavy addict and felt like the death stick was going to kill me eventually (I had given into this fact a while ago). While it scared me, it didn't scare me enough to stop. I bought some cheapo ecig (ironically cost me $90) from a local outlet, and while I feel like this unit sucks in so many ways, it has been more effective than:

1. Zyban - Based on what I have read, I think this is no better than a placebo and waaay more expensive?
2. Nicotine Gum
3. Nicotine Inhalers
4. Cold turkey (duh).

It *almost* replaces the urge completely, and probably would replace it completely if I was using new carts all the time, but that gets expensive.

I have ordered quite a bit of fancy equipment based on the recommendations here, and I believe I can continue to kick the habit in a nicer manner. My only fear would be if it was released that these things were death sticks, in which case I'd have to work on kicking this habit too, but so far, all I have seen is that even with the FDA comments on this product, it is 1000x better than an analog (and you don't smell like a monkey's ... either).

$90 + $190 (now)... I would have spent 15x this much to kick the nasty analog habit.

I was shocked at how well my current system helped kick the habit, as I wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't heard anyone to date say that this hasn't been the greatest cessation device they have ever tried, so it should be a safe bet for you.

Good luck! I'm sure you will be saying goodbye to that nasty stick... Then comes the realization of how bad everything around you smells from your previous addiction :pervy:

There's no such thing as "hiding the odor" for a smoker... Years of smoking just means our senses are dulled to the odor we drag behind us :p

How well this method will work depends a lot on how much you wish to quit. I have been smoking about as long as you have, and I just completed my first day being tobacco free in 40 years.
It seems that you are motivated and that means a lot. E-cigs will help and I have noticed that I am not craving an analog. I was not really motivated like you seem to be, so I think you will succeed in your efforts.

But after writing my entire soliloquy, I have been thinking about getting an analog, because the thought of spending $22 to get more nasty carts doesn't sound appealing... I have some liquids and a good system on order which will negate this issue in the future, but I have to make a tough decision while waiting for my orders to come in...

The good news is that even with refried carts, I'd still only smoke 1/4 of the analogs I did before the ecig...

Only been smoking for 30 years? I smoked for more than 40 years and was at nearly three packs a day when my wife and I discovered vaping. We'd tried the patch and Chantix (twice). They never took and we'd pretty much given up on ever being able to quit burning leaves and paper in a tube.
Vaping finally did it. We were among the lucky ones who stopped totally on the same day our first e-cigs arrived. That was nearly 10 months ago.
We wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep trying, even if it seems difficult, confusing or even impossible at first. Most of all, stay in the forums and join and incredibly supportive group of people who sincerely want you to win.

Oh, yeah, been there! I have a seven year old, and she was begging me to stop after her school got that visit. Those .......s! ;)

Dang, that's a long wait. Ordered my kit from cigeasy, and they delivered it cross country (3,000mi) in TWO DAYS. I was pretty impressed!

I have already laid it on the line for the family telling them I am going to take another run at quitting by the end of next week. There all cheering.

Good luck! I found it easy. I just take some good puffs on my ecig when I desire a smoke break, and I literally have ZERO desire to light up another coffin nail!

The Chantix was the closest I have come to quiting. I think I would do it again just for the dreams.

Really I am keeping in mind that in my experience rarely do my "High" expectations ever live up to real life. So I am trying to set my expectations based on the post here would be considered realistic.

If I can get to a place where I can stay in the family room dragging a e cig for example without my anxiety about when and where to smoke next domination my thought I would be happy with that.

If I can take a couple hour trip dragging on my e cig in the car with the family without feeling the need to pull over I will be happy with that.

I think based off of what I have read here those should be reasonable "first steps".

My 7 yr old daughters Autism really interferes with my smoking (how rude of her). Its clearly a straw that breaks the camels back. If she is not supervised the house will look like a Home Alone movie. And we spend a lot of time school buildings, professional offices because of it. I think she should quit the Autism then I can keep smoking.

I started vaping almost a year ago just with the hopes of slowing down the amount I was smoking. At 4-5 packs a day for 41 years I figured my days were numbered. I was amazed at how well I was able to take to PVs and will celebrate a full year off analogs in a few weeks.

You have an even bigger reason to make it work. You can do it.

As a DSE901 owner may I suggest that once you have the unit that you check out the mod (for modification) subforum here. Then the cartridge area in there. There are a number of mods there that will help make the liquid wick to the atomizer better. Odds are one will work for you. I use the straw mod myself. It keeps the juice flowing from full to empty and keeps the flavor and vapor going too.

If you find the first few vapes are good and the rest are a bit dry and tasteless then you're seeing the effect of poor juice flow. Wait a bit longer between inhales to let the filler material wick the juice to the atomizer. And go read the cart mod area. ;)

Congrats on your decision to become a vaper!!!!

Keep us posted on your experience because I think you will be amazed how much you enjoying vaping!!! You may find that you still need an analog here and there (in the morning and/or at night) but that is okay. Some people still enjoy that but the success is the cutting way back on the analogs and finally not realizing they hadn't had a analog for a day or two.

Congrats on making the switch! I think you will find that this is the best route to quitting smoking. For one, it's similar enough to smoking that you don't have to deal with a drastic change in habits like you do with other forms of quitting.

One point of advice, I don't think you get near the amount of nicotine from the vapor as you do from smoke. My wife and I were a pack+ a day smokers of ultralight cigarettes. I did some calculations and figured that we were taking in around 12-15mg/day of nic from smoking. As such, all the juice I ordered initially was the 11-12mg/ml juice. This just didn't cut it. One of the PVs we ordered was a Screwdriver MKII and it came with a 10ml bottle of 24mg/ml juice and we both found that we were much more satisfied with that, especially first thing in the AM and after dinner. Unfortunately, that bottle only lasted us a couple of days and after running out, we both found the temptation to supplement with analogs to be huge. We were essentially chain vaping the 11mg/ml juice and were still not satisfied. As such, I had to go back and put in an order for more 24mg/ml juice. Now that we have that, we've found that we are vaping less and way more satisfied with it.

The first time I discovered ecigs I was amazed,I tried everything but this thing broke me of my habit of reg cigs after 43 years. At first I didnt think it would work but after a few vapes and a little patience I liked it very much got off reg cigs instantley..

Been vaporing since january 2010..I am vaporing 30 to 36 mgs...I smoked reg full favor and sometimes cigars..I do find myself chain vaping alot of times ..I think its alot more work in it in the beginning but now its second nature to me..

Hi, I've smoked for 30 years, tried giving up (did that for 12 months then automatically back up to 20 a day), tried patches, the whole shabbang.
My first E-Ni was the Tornado, and once charged up, I haven't touched or wanted to touch an analogue since.
My sense of smell and taste are returning, and when I go past analogue smokers, I cringe inside to think how I must have smelt to others.
I've since migrated to the Silver Bullet as I prefer the 6v vape (I also have a 5v usb passthrough for pc vaping at work)
Just remember, the lower voltage E-Ni's require a bit of a slower/longer draw to the higher volt devices.
Keep with the program and find a juice you like, and it's a small piece of heaven in a cloud!
