I've begun using my old cigar tray. It keeps it off common surfaces and I keep my spare carts in the tray itself.

*tried to link a pic but I'm too new to post URL's yet

If you can try to locate some Asian flatware. A thin plate adorns most tables in Asia to hold chopsticks off the table and would be perfect for an e-cig.

I use a shot glass at home some of the time, but most of the time I just leave it sitting on my desk or coffee table.

What's the big deal about the mouthpiece touching a table?

It's part "this is a desk in an office place and you never know who has had their hands on it, and part everything has a place and is in it's place. I can get a little OCD about my desk sometimes.

to have on my person, I've tried assorted marker caps for my penstyle.
the sanford uniball grip top is very secure for the 801/201 top/mouth piece.
(sharpies were too big and bic tops were too small - fwiw)

the old fashioned flair markers work so-so on the bottom piece - not confident that they'll hold up to a lot of movement, tho

as far as on the desk - I use either coffee cup or glass
