    Yumi POPMOD & EPICMOD Disposables

    a2ngnO3.jpg

Hello again and welcome to another Z-Lee review. Today we have two different disposable vapes made my Yumi called the POPMOD and EPICMOD. For the most part, they're both very similar, but they do have their differences. Which one might be best for you is based on what you want most out of a disposable vape and the particular flavor you're after. While both of these disposables have the same flavor options, they do taste different across models. I'll get into a more in-depth description as we progress through this review.

I was asked by Sue over at HealthCabin to do these reviews, and while I don't see myself flipping over to disposables from coil head tanks and rebuildables, they may be a great fit for you. Anything to get you off of big tobacco's stinkies is a win in my book. As always, this review will be conducted in fairness and with honesty.

    Alright, lehgo.

I received the Blueberry, Grape, and Watermelon for this review. Unfortunately the Watermelon package was leaking upon arrival and ended up killing the battery, so Blueberry and Grape is what I'll describe below as best as I can with comparisons against the EPICMOD when applicable.

    - Blueberry -
    Flavor Notes: Blueberry, Menthol

Airflow Adjustments: Loose MTL to Very Restricted Direct Lung

Flavor Description: Both flavors are equally prevalent. In comparison to the Blueberry EPICMOD, the menthol is more pronounced leaving a greater cooling sensation on the inhale and exhale.

Rating: 7.5 - I like a little menthol in my vapes, but I'm not the biggest fan of strong menthol. This would probably rate higher for those who like a stronger menthol sensation.

    - Grape -
    Flavor Notes: Grape, Menthol

Airflow Adjustments: Loose MTL to Very Restricted Direct Lung

Flavor Description: The grape flavor is a sugary candy grape. It's what you'd imagine from a grape Warhead, or grape flavored Kool-aid with the cooling sensation of menthol. Unlike the Blueberry POPMOD, the distribution of grape and menthol flavoring favors the candy grape a slight bit.

Rating: 8.0 - I know there are some individuals out there that absolutely love grape flavored vapes. If you are one of those individuals that likes candy grape with a soothing menthol kick, then this one would be right up your alley.

*Note* At the time of this review, the Grape POPMOD battery has ceased to function properly or take a charge.

    - REVIEW TESTING & OBSERVATIONS -

    7ZrdKJz.jpg

All POPMOD disposables arrived and looked to be in good health. Upon closer inspection and some passing time, 2 of the 3 disposables ended up being inoperative. The battery compartment of the 3 and only survivor wants to pop out when I try and remove the USB Type-C charging cable.

In hand, the disposable feels smooth with the polished aluminum casing and it looks great. It's extremely lightweight and very pocket friendly. The adjustable sliding airflow switch on the bottom is a definite plus, although the range of airflow is pretty miniscule. I'd say it ranges from a loose MTL to a very Restricted Direct Lung. There is a small LED on the bottom that lights up when you take a drag or plug/unplug the charging cable. It will also flash 3 times when the battery is dead.

The tested charging speed for the POPMOD ranged from 0.2 to 0.5A. 0.2A would likely take nearly half a work day to charge a 700 mAh battery (3.5 hours), while a 0.5A charge would likely take about an hour and a half. 0.5A isn't unusual for a 700 mAh battery, but 0.2A definitely is. If I had to guess how many puffs the battery lasted before it needed a recharge, I'd say 100ish puffs. The Type-C port does read a 3.0 QC charging cable however, there's no pass-through vaping. The cable must be unplugged before vaping.

When the vape is working, it definitely dishes out a lot of flavor in the advertised salt nic concentration (5% in this case). I may have just received a bad batch of samples, but I can only judge based on what I've experienced.

    - PROS/CONS/CONSIDERATIONS -
    ++ PROS ++
    • Very light weight
    • Very compact
    • Extremely easy to use
    • Looks sleek
    • Great flavor output (flavor choice is subjective)
    • Nicotine delivery on point
    • USB Type-C port (0.2 -0.5?)
    • Reads a USB Type-C 3.0 QC cable which is very convenient

    - - CONS - -

    • Reliability?
    • Build quality/assembly is questionable
    • Potential for leaking if you get a bad one

    + - PREFERENTIAL CONSIDERATIONS - +

    • Lanyard loop (lanyard not included)
    • 0.2 to 0.5A charging speed
    • No pass-through vaping

    - POPMOD OVERALL RATING -

    8.0

    (for the working POPMOD)

    4.5 - 5.0

    - YUMI EPICMOD -

    AS8vU2c.jpg

The EPICMOD seems to be a slightly younger version of the POPMOD when comparing them side by side. The only major differences between them are the airflow, the hand feel, and the shape of the mouth piece. Being that the EPICMOD lacks an airflow control, the shape of the mouth piece would further suggest that this device is meant more for (loose) MTL vapers.

    - FEATURES -

What you can expect from the EPICMOD:
    • 14 mL eliquid capacity
    • <5500 puffs
    • 650 mAh rechargable battery
    • USB Type-C charging port (0.5A)
    • Mesh coil
    • 0/20/30/50 mg/mL salt nic (HealthCabin only selling 50 mg/mL)
    • Lanyard hole

    - FLAVORS -
    (same as the POPMOD)

I received the Blueberry, Grape, and Pink Lemonade flavors for this review. I will describe below as best as I can with comparisons against the POPMOD when applicable.

    - Blueberry -
    Flavor Notes: Blueberry, Menthol, Sweetener?

    Airflow Adjustments: None

Flavor Description: The blueberry flavor clearly overpowers the menthol additive. However, unlike the POPMOD, I'm getting a much sweeter flavor. This could be due to the lower presence of menthol which makes the blueberry pop out more, or an additive sweetener has been splashed in.

Rating: 8.0 - The menthol is far less present in the EPICMOD in comparison to the POPMOD however, you still get the cooling sensation of the menthol. This would probably rate higher for those who like more of a sweeter flavor.

    - Grape -
    Flavor Notes: Grape, Menthol

    Airflow Adjustments: None

Flavor Description: The grape flavor is a mixture of candy grape and a real grape. To my surprise, the grape is a bit more subtle than the POPMOD, and maybe a tad bit sweeter or tart. I will however say that the menthol is much more prevalent in grape than it is in blueberry when comparing EPICMODS. An even blend of grape, menthol, and sweetener with a tad bit of a tart aftertaste.

Rating: 8.5 - This type of grape is more up my alley. If you want a more sweeter (tart?) grape flavor and less of a sugary one (if that makes any sense), this is a better choice over the POPMOD.

    - Pink Lemonade -

Flavor Notes: Pink Lemonade (?), Menthol

    Airflow Adjustments: None

Flavor Description: I'm not exactly sure how to describe this. I can definitely taste the lemonade, but it's like they shoved a bunch of flowers into the glass and muddled it all together. There's a floral taste mixed in with the lemonade. It's almost like I took in a mouth full of lemonade and then smelled some pungent wild flowers while swallowing the lemonade. I think pink lemonade way back in the day was actually made like this, but this isn't what I'd expect from a pink lemonade disposable. The menthol is more subtle in this disposable, but still very present. By percentage, I'd say 40% lemonade, 35% wild flowers, and 25% menthol.

Rating: 6.5 - The flavor profile just doesn't jive with the description very well. If the flavor was OG Pink Lemonade, I think that would be more accurate and would probably give some people a heads up that this isn't a Kool-aid-type pink lemonade. A little bit of additional sweetener might have helped this one out a bit.

    - REVIEW TESTING & OBSERVATIONS -

    qnBmvqK.jpg

    Basic differences:

    • 14 mL capacity vs 12 in the POPMOD
    • >5500 puffs over >4500 puffs
    • 650 mAh battery instead of 700 mAh
    • Exterior is made of a silicon/rubber and plastic instead of the brushed aluminum

    g3YYJZ8.jpg

There really isn't much difference between the POPMOD and EPICMOD strictly by looking at their specs. The POPMOD hosts a 700 mAh battery while the EPICMOD sports a 650 mAh battery. Their overall size and physical attributes are very close with the exception of some additional edges etched into the EPICMOD. The EPICMOD doesn't have an airflow control, and the airflow hole sits on the side. Judging by the build quality, the EPICMOD seems quite a bit more robust and forgiving if dropped being that the bottom 2/3 of the device is a single rubbery plastic piece. The only way this could leak is if the disposable sat on its side for a prolonged amount of time.

    - PROS/CONS/CONSIDERATIONS -
    ++ PROS ++
    • Less subject to leak based on construction
    • Very light weight
    • Very compact
    • Extremely easy to use
    • Looks sleek
    • Mouth piece is suited for MTL lip sealing
    • A little bit of grip in-hand
    • Built sturdy
    • Good flavor output (flavor choice is subjective)
    • Nicotine delivery on point
    • USB Type-C port (0.5A)
    • Reads a USB Type-C 3.0 QC cable which is very convenient
    - - CONS - -
    • No airflow control
    + - PREFERENTIAL CONSIDERATIONS - +
    • Lanyard loop (lanyard not included)
    • 0.5A charging speed
    • No pass-through vaping
    - EPICMOD OVERALL RATING -

    9.0
    (not a bad disposable)
The EPICMOD proves to be a better choice between these two mods, in my opinion. Again, I may have received a bunk set of POPMOD samples that skewed the results a bit, but I also believe the EPICMOD is better constructed against leaking which is always a concern for any pocketable vape product. Ultimately, if flavor is your biggest priority, then find what flavor you think suits you the best between these two and go with it.

The EPICMOD can be found here, and the POPMOD can be found here. Both disposables are not currently in stock at HealthCabin, but they generally restock fairly quickly.

Again, I want to thank Sue over at HealthCabin for sending these out for review. I may not be a fan of disposables, but I don't mind testing them out to stay in the loop with what's currently available on the market.

Thanks for reading, and happy vape hoarding!
