Ok,

This is my 1st RBA and I am having some growing pains.. I have been vaping for over 3 years (drip and carto tanks) and while I am adjusting well to the Z Atty I am having a few issues that maybe fellow users can assist with,

1st of all I an not having any coil issues. I wrapped my 1st one and it came out perfect.

My issues are with the wick. The ceramic wick that came installed lasted all of 2 days before it broke. How it broke I have no clue but it snapped right where it enters the wick hole.

I didn't want to use the extra ceramic that came with the unit so I loaded up some 400x400 SS that I purchased from ProVape. I also purchased the o-ring kit because it comes with the insulator that's needed to use the SS wicks.

Now my issue... I put the insulator in the wick hole and put the SS wick in the tank. Wrapped up a nice coil that fires nicely with no hot spots. Everything is working great but..

I am getting a TON of juice leaking into the top cap now. If I don't slightly tilt the device when vaping I get dry hit. If I tilt it I am flooding and getting a ton of juice overflow. If I vape with the device in a straight position I am not flooding or or getting dry hits but I am still getting a decent amount of juice in the tip cap.

Is the SS wick to small (even when used with the insulator)? Does the insulator not work well with the Z Atty 2.1?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Most of my juice in the top cap comes from splatter off the coil. You see very small drops spit off that coil and they collect with condensing vapor still trapped under the cap and form the juice you're finding.
You can test for leaks by pretending to vape for a bit without firing your coil. Of you find juice then you have a leak or something.

Thanks for the response..

It's not condensation as I was getting that with the ceramic wick and I have no issues with that but I am getting a TON of liquid in the cap.

All ZAPs do that.... It is condensatiom and splatter from the coil thats coating the inside of the cap with liquid.....

It's much more juice than that.. I'd say 3 times more juice than when I had the ceramic wick installed..

But...

I have resolved the issue.. Chalk it up to growing pains but I was tipping the unit to much when vaping thus, I believe, causing the juice to run down the wick at a faster pace than I was vaping at. Oddly, it didn't appear to flood..

A simple change of where I hold the device when vaping appears to have resolved the issue..

I am having the same problem if anyone can help but it is not condensation. When I go to fill my tank, lid is off and I tilt just abit to get the juice on the opposite side from the wick, but not reaching the top because not much juice is left in tank. I start having juice oozing from the center post. I wipe it away, tilt it again and more juice oozes from post. Any ideas?

I dealt with a similar problem. I am just used to tipping when I hit and didn't want to have to change everything up. I started using a higher vg in my zap tank. I still tip to avoid dry hits, but the thicker liquid wicks slower and I don't get the spill out the top. try using about 30/70 pg/vg. perfect combo now.

Same thing here, have broken both ceramic wicks and now using the stainless steel wick... didn't actually realise that the plastic jobbie was an insulator and installed the SS without it, but seems to be working well enough so will leave it as is for now :D Just have to constantly consciously watch how i tilt the unit

The State of Confusion
Hi,

I am waiting on my Z-Atty from Provape.

I use primarily VG based liquids, it will be interesting to see how it performs with the ceramic wick?

I will be sure to post my findings!

Well got it!

I got to be honest, you HAVE to use strong flavors...I tried some Peachy Menthol and I am hard pressed to get a good hit of peach. Now the throat hit, performance, no problem, but I know I'll like it better with stronger flavors.

So what voltages do youse guys run you Zap at?:vapor:

BTW:

Changed to Cola, OMG what an awesome vape in the Z-Atty!

I think what you vape in it matters a whole lot more that other attys!

Now as far as performance, I followed the video, and I am vaping at 4.7 volts with the ceramic wick and it is working awesome!

You do have to vape differently, as it has by comparison a very open draw, but that's about it!

You will find there are some flavors you vape regularly will / may suck in a Z-Atty, I know I won't be doing the Peach menthol in it again unless I add a whole lot more Peach, and a lot less menthol...whoo hooo what a throat hit with Cola!

Makes me light headed!

Here is what I have found:

32 gauge is what it is shipped with.

Some prefer SS Mesh as the wick, use the 325 x 325 for VG based juices, 400 x 400 for PG based juices.
(Buy them from Provape, as they are pre-oxidized).

About performance:

It is a much airier hit, you have to draw on it like a pipe, slow and easy.

Here' an idea to reduce air flow: Take the cover off, clean the inside with 91% iso, take a piece of scotch tape and place it over the air hole, from the inside, use care so as not to place it where it can interfere with anything, next using a TINY, TINY sewing needle puncture it through the caps vent hole.

While I have yet to try this, it sounds like it should work.

Flavors are less pronounced, menthol', and mints more pronounced.

Personally I like it for a quiet sit down after dinner vape, after all any RBA is not your tank for on the go!

I love my ProTank II' also! But I love my Z-Atty too, it's a different vape, just like a BF or Drip is different, I do know that you have to break it in like the video shows or YOU WILL pop coils, etc.

I have had mine two or three weeks now and have gone through 3 or 4 tanks of juice and it still is going strong @ 4.7 volts, original coil and wick.

I plan on buying another RBA, but I bet there is not much difference in the hit, unless it has a smaller air hole.

I also found that using a small O ring on the base allows one to adjust it so it (the vent hole) can be lined up with the fire button, works pretty slick!

(I forgot who in this forum told me..I use an orange silicone based type, start in over the threads, and use a Popsicle stick or the like to work it down over the threads).

Another place to seek advice is the ZEN forum, as these folks have been using these atty' for a while now.

I have had mine for 5 weeks and still not found a sweet spot with the Z-atty. I have ordered more wire from 28 to 32ga to see what works the best. Sad to say the pro tank 2 works better than this z-atty. I hope it is just me/set up I have made over and over to get a good vape/hit. Any input as to Ohm to volt would be much help...

I just ordered my girl a Provari v2 and was wondering what the best/easiest RBA tank for her to put on her Provari without using her Pro tank with that itty bitty strand of wick to deliver her flavor. We are both pretty new to this and I have seen the 91% Russian , heard that the provape tank they offer is good(is it rba?) , and don't know of much else out there that is quality built, delivers big flavor, and let's me build her coils/wicks/mesh or whatever for her. Please offer me your advice as the provari shipped today and I wanna know what to Mount on it. Thank you so much. Richie

Richie,
The Zen ZAP is a RBA, originally designed for use of Stainless Steel mesh, but lot have discovered the use of cotton inside of these type of atomizers RBA's as well. Cotton allows for a very clean flavor, with micro coils the flavor and vapor is stunning.
Z-Atty-Pro - Rebuildable Tank System V2.1

The term for genesis cotton wicks is "Auto Dripping" Cotton wicks are easy to set up compared to mesh in some cases. As the cotton does not need to be oxidized. Some prefer Stainless Steel mesh, other prefer cotton :)

Kindly,

Ken

For me the ZAP came with a broken ceramic wick (promptly shipped new one from provape btw) I installed a new one and was having a very poor taste with a 3 wrap coil... I decided to try a 4 wrap coil on ceramic, absolutely amazing, I will never go back to using SS mesh and thats saying a lot! Previously I have used over 50 SS wicks but the flavor and consistency is leaps above SS mesh. Again the key was a 4 wrap coil. Here is a quick pic of my new setup (can't stop showing it off) thanks Provape & Zen!
