Zen Sidewinder -- great form factor, but poorly designed

Got my sidewinder 510 yesterday, and love the form factor, nearly a stealth mod. I have a KFL+ on it, and it does work quite nicely, despite the threading not being what I'd expect in a $200 mod. Thre are definitely problems, some of which seem to be the result of not considering how it's different from the tube zens. First, the battery rattle -- yes, I've seen the explanation of how the zen switch is different because it prevents arcing by sliding the battery up to meet the positive contact. That may be true in a tube zen, but in the sidewinder the battery is already resting on its positive contact on the bottom. The switch does not in fact slide the battery at all. I also tried to put a Kick 2 in it. I successfully removed the delrin spacer and spring and put the screw back in screwed in about where it seemed to need to be for the size of the Kick 2, which is nearly the same as the delrin spacer. But I was off by enough that the 510 connector part wouldn't screw down all the way. That's when I realized that there's no way to adjust that screw without taking the kick out. But how do you get the kick out? I don't know. I can't get it out. The problem is the lack of a simple slot or philips head on the other end of the screw so that you can back the screws out, take the bottom off, and push it out. As of now, I can't get it out, can't adjust the screw, can't get the 510 on securely, and can't use the sidewinder. I suppose in a tube zen it would be trivial to get it out, but not in the sidewinder. Considering that zen's site talks about putting a kick in, and gives instructions, I'm a bit surprised they didn't provide an easy way to get it out. Any ideas about how to get it out? Lastly, why not offer a small extension tube for an 18490 battery? I measured and it would barely change the form factor, wouldn't rise higher than my mouthpiece. I can see that a 650 extension would be too long, but a 490 would not change things much at all.

I'm a bit peeved that putting in a kick has made this expensive mod unuseable. Making it so difficult simply because the other end of the screws do not have a slot, or hex, or philips, makes no sense at all. It's now a pretty paperweight until I can get the kick out. Thanks for any help from the pros here!

Thanks! I did try the slam into palm technique, which only managed to get it into the threads nicely. I'll try unscrewing as well, or a bit by bit combo, until I can get it out and adjust that screw further in. At least it seems I won't need the "kick screw" that I can't find anyway. I do love the form factor, and wonder why other modders haven't made similar side-by-side devices that sit comfortably in the hand, are pocket-friendly, and just feel .... right.
