Heard this was a great MTL tank, and don't get me wrong, it looks great, I love the slide to fill and coil replacement method. Also great - no leaking, but after wondering what was going on for a few days with dry hits and tossing coils prematurely, I finally figured out what the problem was/is - the juice simply wont go into the coils after a drag or two because of the negative air pressure inside the tank.

If I slide the top open to expose the filling area then close it again - it's all good for another couple of drags, and you can even hear very slightly the air exchange when I do.

I'm using pretty thin juice (70% VG or so) and while I don't think it should/would matter, adjusting the airflow holes doesn't make any difference.

Am I missing something? I'd love this thing if I didn't have to pop the top off every 2 minutes. I should mention this airlock or whatever lasts a LONG time (like hours) in case anyone might propose I'm hitting it too frequently. I'm using 1.6 coils, but have already swapped through a few before I realized that wasn't the problem all with the same issue.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

To be honest im not really knowledgeable when it comes to vaping but i am using a Innokin Zlide and so far i havent had any problems.

Went thru a 1.6 coil with no problem and now im using a 0.48 with the same result, although it does say max 16w on the 0.48ohm but it does give me some burnt taste that is why i currently using it at 14w.

Dabble between flavours,using mostly citrics,sometimes 50/50 (PG/VG) and 30/70 (VG/PG).

Wish i could help more but so far for me the Zlide has been working fine.

Hello @Thumbscrew, for wicking issues there's a simple option.

You can thin the liquid you're using with a little Distilled Water, you don't need a lot as a little goes a long way.

Also could we ask if you've primed your coil properly? As that can cause issues as well.

Also what coil are you using please and at what wattage?

And what liquid are you using, with the Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol ratios as well please?

With early top fill tanks the procedure was to close off the AFC, fill the tank, and then, while screwing down the top cap, flip the tank over just before finishing screwing that last thread, then open the AFC, while keeping the tank upside down to allow the tank to equalize.

You should be able to see bubbles rising while the tank is still upside down.

When the bubbles stop, the tank is ready to go.

Now, the Zenith has an air shut off feature, to keep the tank from flooding.

I assume the Zlide does too, but maybe yours is compromised in some way.

Still, the above procedure should work, if that is, indeed, the case.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try these later today when I finish off my other tank.

Also could we ask if you've primed your coil properly? As that can cause issues as well.

I do believe so, if anything over-primed after the first couple of coils.

Also what coil are you using please and at what wattage?

1.6ohms, not sure of the coils 'name' but I believe they're the latest version and aren't generics or anything. I'd started at 10 watts, but went down to 9 because I thought it might help with the dry hits. (without any problems I'd probably go 13-14)

And what liquid are you using, with the Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol ratios as well please?

I'm actually mixing my own, which should be about 70% pg (for some reason the flavorings didn't mention what kind of base they are, I was assuming VG and measured as such, but I'm not positive.) I don't have a problem with PG so I don't mind going higher than that either so long as the tank doesn't leak. No dark or particular sweet flavors to clog things up.

Thanks again and I shall pop on later after I've tried to make sure things are as thin as possible, try to equalize and whatnot.

Cheers.

So you DIY your juices... most flavors are in PG. So if you assumed they are in VG, you compensated with more PG and your juice might even be 65% VG (which is what I use for MTL) should be fine. With my little MTL tank (Nautilus X) I have become a bit OCD and tend to do "primer puffs" (suck air without firing) between vapes. Keeps the coil saturated. You shouldn't have to do this but it really helps. I have also had to open the top to help with pressure/vacuum issues. Is your nicotine in VG or PG? Are you sure you have measured/weighed correctly? Did you shake it well after mixing? When you replace a coil and fill tank, do you wait at least 10 minutes before using? I suspect you are doing everything right but just had to ask. When you fill, leave some airspace at the top.
