I would really recomend using 18490's and using the larger bottom cap, It will only add 1/8 of an inch to the height and you'll have a lot more vape time here is an old image of my ex setup, there is a small gap on the telescope

You can use either button top or flat top batteries in any battery size that fits The Sigelei Zmax Telescopic V3 or V5: 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650 or 2x18350. The difference between flat top and button top is only about 1mm and the lower cost for the flat tops. I prefer flat tops and use the 18500 most often. Here it is with 18500. With the telescopic tube shortened for 18350 you would not see the narrow section of the tube.

Every new user tends to over tighten the Sigelei telescopics to make them as short as possible with the longer batteries. I seriously discourage doing that, even if pBusardo did it in his video. Don't tighten the tube down to compress the battery spring more than half way. The difference between a 18490 and a 18500 is only 1 mm.

Flat or button work just as well. I only use 18350 when I pocket carry all day long on a very active day. That's when I want the smallest size from the Sigelei. 90% of the time I'm using the 18500 which I can still pocket carry easily. Smaller than 18650, the 1100 mAh 18500 is the best compromise between small size and battery capacity for me. I also use 18650 at home fairly often. I have two V3s now. One is sized for 18500 and other for 18650. I'm getting lazy.

Typical lengths I get on Sigelei V3 Telescopic with different batteries. Just an estimate depending on how tight I compress the spring. The Sigelei Zmax Mini (non-telescopic) uses a 18350 and is the same length as Telescopic V3 or V5 in the 18350 mode: 100mm.

18350: 100mm with short cap, 105mm with long cap.
18490: 111-114mm with either cap, spring 1/2 compressed.
18500: 112-115mm with either cap, spring 1/2 compressed.
18650: 127-130mm with either cap, spring 1/2 compressed.

You will see Sigelei Zmax V3 sold as either flat top or round top. This has nothing to do with the batteries they use. The choice of trim detail and the shape of the top cap is what determines if it is a flat top or round top (slant top) Sigelei. The Sigeleis shown in posts #2 and #4 are both Sigelei flat tops.

Woah, thanks for all the info YZER! I'm about to place an order for the V3 Flat Head (better price then the V5, I don't need the USB charger).

Will the battery style (button/flat) make a difference? What do you recommend for the setup above? I'll be using mostly 18350. Would the flat top with 800mah be better for a tiny bit better battery legnth?
