Once a year i take of the black part that keeps the copper center pin of the SB and i sand it on my bench on a 500 grid sand paper. I notice on my new Sb silver vein that the top pin is a silver color and it looks that is coated. My question is what coating is that and if its permited to sand this too.

It is nickel plated brass. Do not sand it. I changed it over because the copper was oxidizing and would hinder the performance if it was not sanded.
