I have seen pre-made fused claptons for sale advertising:

2 Strands of 26 Gauge Kanthal A1 fused with 36 Gauge Kanthal A1

8 Wraps

3mm Internal Diameter

Resistance Specs:

Single Coil Mode: 0.70 Ohm

Dual Coil Mode: 0.35 Ohm

I went to double check the numbers for myself using steam-engine wire wizard and wrapping calculator which gave me the following:

Using the same wire and internal diameter it says it would be 22 wraps :S Am I going wrong somewhere with my calculations?

It looks like you just took the dimensions of the fused Clapton from the wire builder and plugged it in to the coil calculator as a same-sized ribbon wire. Ribbon wire and Clapton wire are not the same thing. Note that in the wire builder it says the cross-sectional area (which is directly proportional to the conductivity/inversely proportional to the resistance) of the fused Clapton is 0.27mm^2. Your 1.0x0.6 ribbon wire has a cross-section of 1*0.6 = 0.6mm^2, more than twice that of the Clapton. With that much more cross-section for the electricity to flow through, of course the resistance is going to be lower and you are going to need more wraps to reach the same target. Mind, however, that 1x.6 ribbon wire is not what you're actually using. Try putting it in as 1x0.27 (equivalent cross-section to your fused Clapton) and see what you get.
