Safest 18650 battery?

AW 18650 2900mAH protected 3.7v. Built with LiNiCoO2 NNP cells
Is this the safest 18650 battery I can buy?

If it's the black flat top one, then yes, that's pretty much the standard many are sticking to.



AW's are all I use.

Thanks. Good to know. I'll be using them in my new P18 which I haven't received yet. I've been reading up on mod and battery safety and it seems most of these posts here on battery safety were made is 2009. Has battery technology been updated much since then?

IMR is a safer chemistry than Li-ion if something should go wrong they will just vent. Both AW types will work and are a good choice.

I'd recommend IMR if you're looking at the smaller batteries like 14500 as they have a higher discharge rate. If you're in the 18650 range the discharge rate is high enough for Li-ion that they aren't really needed.

Edit: Just read you'll be using them in the P18. Go with Li-ion in that size as you'll get longer run times in between charges.

For a 3.7v mod this is my suggestion....btw they are cheaper elsewhere

No the AW 2900 is Li-ion as shown on the label. The AW IMR is 1600 mAh shown in the link below.
