Wanting to start to rebuild protank heads, need help

Hey everyone, so I'm very new to vaping but I still think I'm ready to rebuild heads, I have a protank two and several original protanks, the system I use is the vamo v5. Now my question to you is what things do I need exactly. I know I want to use cotton and I know some people use cotton balls or thread. I have done a little research and I think peaches and cream thread is what I'm after. Also what kind of wire is best for protanks. Also what other supplies do I need for this (I have a clipper) I'm wanting to get a decent amount of supply for 30 or 40 dollars

You will get many answers, but what I use is 28 gauge kanthal from Ebay, 50 ft for about $5 shipped. Organic cotton balls, 80 jumbo size for about $4. If you are frugal, you could probably get at least 6 or 8 builds from 1 cotton ball. Me, not frugal, I build 2 or 3 and throw the rest away.

What's the difference between all the gages of kanthal btw cause I have found amazing deals on amazing that I'm really considering like this

I like 30 guage, 1/16 drill bit, 8/9 wraps, cotton, 1.8 ohms in my pt rebuilds.

30g wire is best for starters.......around 1/16 bit

get some rolled cotton and some clippers and your golden.....nothing else needed that i can think of......but then again its been a few months since I've messed with those.....LOL

Put me in the 30ga kanthal category too. I use a 5/64ths bit, and wrap it 7 times for 1.8 ohms on the dot.

The 5/64 bit is slightly larger diameter than the 1/16th for a larger diameter coil with less wraps. That way, I can actually get more cotton in the coil for more juice flow. That's just what has worked for me.

For safety don't forget to get an ohm meter to read the ohms of your coils and to make sure you do not have a short.

yeah he has a VAMO so it will read it right there when he screws it on.....

yes...it will read it and it won't let you fire it unless its over 1.1 or 1.2....cant remember the exact number

I think for the v5 it's actually 1.4

yarn works well too......ive only used it a few times but for the vapor production and flavor i always leaned towards the rolled cotton.......its so easy to get......i had problems getting yarn without dyes in it and i had to boil it first.......

The Peaches and Cream yarn from Walmart will work quite well with a coil with a .075 ID (round toothpick) and seems to not flood.

I find the resistance of 32guage a bit high. 5 turns gives me 2.2 Ohms, and 5 turns makes a tiny micro coil. I've settled on 11 turns of 28 guage. or 8 turns of 30 ;-)

Sweet thank you, Yea it looks like that I will be going with 28 gauge, now I just need to wait tell Tuesday then I can go order myself some kanthal.

Sometimes with 28 gage it has a hard time fitting into the coil base. You might get some shorts or grounding issues.

Six of one and half-dozen of the other. It's all a matter of personal preference. I've used both in different builds, and prefer the cotton balls because it's a little easier to fine-tune wick density for me. Once you get the hang of it, it's really pretty simple.

Does anyone know where to get some good 30 Guage kanthal or 28 Guage. Amazon has both and the 28 Guage is cheap but the 30 isn't, also I really wouldn't like to use ebay
