Advice - Adding nic to 0% juice

Hey all,
First post. Be gentle lol.

I bought a 100ml bottle of 0% nic ejuice. I wanted the shop to add nic to make it 6mg nicotine.
They added an entire 10ml bottle of 18mg nicotine called "just nic it" its 80vg 20pg.
I usually vape 3mg and wanted to go to 6mg as i felt i wasnt getting enough nic. (Recently quit the real cigs) but this stuff absolutely kills my throat. It feels like the first time i vaped when i bought the cheap stuff from the garage with 12mg juice lol.

Now, im no expert and fairly confident the guys in the shop know what they're doing. But i have a niggling doubt somethings not quite right.

To get 6mg of nic, they should have added about 50 ml of 18 mg/ml nic, for a total of 150 ml. With only 10ml, your juice, at 110 ml (100 ml plus the additional 10 ml nic mix), is about 1.6 mg/ml strength.

Think about it this way: if you took a bottle of 18 mg/ml nicotine and cut it half with pg/vg, it would be 9 mg/ml. If you cut *that* with half pg/vg it would be 4.5 mg/ml nic.

With 2/3 pg/vg, it would be 6 mg/ml. (18 divided by 3 = 6)

So either they were actually using much higher nic, or they are very bad at math!

According to my liquid calculator this is what you got. couldn't do the pg/vg ratio cuz you didn't mention what the first bottle was.

Sorry, forgot to say, the 100ml bottle of ejuice is 80/20. Same as the bottle of nic. 10ml bottle, 18mg nic, 80/20..

A better example i can give, is i also bought a 60ml bottle of 0% nic. Same bottle of 10ml 18mg nic, but they could only fit half in, so gave me the bottle of nic and said put the rest in once you've filled ur tank.

So i have this 60ml bottle of 0% nic. 80/20
Added with
5ml of 18mg nic, 80/20.

Same problem, absolutely killing my throat.

The thing that's killing your throat, though, is not the strength of the nicotine, unless it's not actually 18 mg/ml nic. In both cases, you are vaping well *below* the level of nic you usually use (3mg).

Dunno man its a pretty big store and is apparently the only stuff they use to nic up juices.

I understand. If you dumped out exactly half of that bottle, and added half of a 0 nic juice, that combination would be 9mg/ml. Do you see what I'm saying?

Ok so lemme make sure im on the same page. Using that formula target strength/base strength x batch to make,

Would be

6mg/180 (10ml bottle of 18mg/ml)
Multiplied by 110 (100ml bottle +10ml bottle)

= 3.6

10 ml bottle of 18 mg/ml would have 180 mg of nicotine total, but I'm not following on the rest. A 10 ml bottle of 6 mg/ml would have 60 mg of nicotine. A 110 bottle of 6mg/ml would have 660 mg of nicotine. Divide 660 by 18, and you get 36.666(etc); in other words, about a third should be the 18% nic. (showing a little higher here, because we're saying 110 ml, when really the total needs to be higher to accommodate the amount of 18 mg/ml needed -- 150 ml).

The more we talk, the more confusing it seems but ... but let's start from a simple visualization. You want a juice that has 6mg/ml. They have a juice that has 18mg/ml. How much would they need to cut that to make it 6mg? They'd need to add 2/3 0mg juice to 1/3 of the 18mg juice. Likewise, you'd need to add 1/3 18mg to your 2/3 0mg to make it 6mg. However you dice it, it takes a third of 18 mg to two thirds 0 mg to get 6 mg.

Hi David,
For each 10ml "nic shot" you have, you can make 30ml of 6mg/ml juice.
10ml Nic @ 18mg/ml plus 20ml of 0 nic equals 30 ml @ 6mg/ml.

The short answer is you end up with 110mL of 1.64mg/mL liquid.

Since tazzle, or no one else has responded yet; let me see if I can make it make sense for you.

You have purchased:
100mL of 0mg/mL base
10mL of 18mg/mL nic concentrate

Together; you have a total of 110mL.

We know the 10ml of 18mg/mL nic concentrate gives us a total of 180mg. of nic. 18 grams in each milliliter, times the number of milliliters, equals the total milliliters available.
So the math looks like this:
18mg X 10(mL) = 180mg total

So, if I have a total of 180mg of nic, and I am putting it into a total volume of 110ml, it is going to dilute to 1.64mg/mL.
The math is:
180mg ÷ 110mL = 1.63636363636...mg/mL. So let's just call it 1.64mg/mL, or even 1.6mg/mL.

Does that make sense?
