Well, it's been shuffled off to a subcommitte where the chairman and vice chairman are Repubs. The majority on the committee are Repubs. There are 51 co-sponsors to H.R. 2058.....All Repubs. Are they saving this bill for a "special" moment?

"... the amendment passed by 31-19 despite the protestations of Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz."

Good first step. But we're not there yet. Not by a long shot.

*le sigh*
Any idea where I can find who voted how?
TIA,
Hazy

Thanks..I'll be digging deep. Will let everybody know when, if I find more out.
Would really appreciate if y'all let us know if you find out more.
Regards,
Hazy

I'm sure that our political people (SJ, Bill G, CASAA) will make an official announcement with more facts soon. I'd like to thank my representatives if they indeed voted for the bill.

Contrary to standard opinion watching the tape confirms what I have been saying all
along. The deeming regs release may not be here but, we are defacto users of tobacco
products. Yes that kind of tobacco. until this changes we might be unscathed in the short
term but, doomed in the long game.

I'll take "unscathed in the short term", Mike. Really. Getting rid of that horrible grandfather (2007) date will, de facto, allow all the vaping gear we're using today to stay on the market. That would be a great victory. Not ideal, but a huge victory nevertheless. Finger crossed. "Tobacco" will never be mainstreamed, like caffeine, but maybe nicotine will be, some day. Who knows.

@Katya Like mentioned in the tape nothing prevents the FDA from immediately
getting rid of the flavors or, further regulations in the future that would accomplish
what the 2007 grandfather date would accomplish immediately.
I agree it might give us the time to accomplish things that in fact may never
be taken back regulations or no. Time will tell. if we get the time.
regards
Mike

I'm glad I watched that. Legislators are hearing from their constituents and that is having an inflluence. Our grass roots efforts do matter (I can't believe I just wrote that). If I found myself talking to my legislator or any legislator I would bring up vaping before anything else and there must be a LOT of others who would do the same. I'm a single issue guy until they leave us vapers the h... alone.

Then I went back and looked at the vote tally. It's a very partisan issue. How can that be? I'm sure I'll be voting Republican this year.

Depends on what part of the tape you listened to - Dr. Harris made it clear that it was NOT a tobacco product. Or if you focused on Debbie (Blabbermouth) Schultz (Rush's appropriate nickname for her), you may have gotten another idea.

Andy Harris MD. (R-Maryland): (wiki)
Harris earned his B.S. in biology (1977) and his M.D. (1980) from The Johns Hopkins University. The University's Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health conferred the M.H.S. in 1995 in Health Policy & Management and also Health Finance & Management.[3]

Harris served in the Navy Medical Corps and the U.S. Naval Reserve as a lieutenant commander on active duty during Operation Desert Storm and currently serves as a commander.[3] He has worked as an anesthesiologist, as an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine, and as chief of obstetric anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Harris also served as commanding officer for the Johns Hopkins Naval Reserve Medical Unit from 1989 to 1992.
