The petition mentions "powerful tobacco interests". In the US one of our largest tobacco companies--and one of the oldest companies of any kind in the here--Lorillard has bought an ecig company, Blu, for $135million. Has anything like this happened yet in Europe, a tobacco company buying an ecig company?

The CEO of Lorillard says that he thinks the ecig market is going to continue to grow at a rapid pace and that, since the tobacco companies have a lot of experience dealing with regulation and litigation, they should invest in this market apparently with an eye to controlling and direst the growth. But who knows what their real intentions are, they may be just planning to buy up the most established ecig companies to kill them, figuring that that's cheaper than paying lobbyists, or they may intend to invest heavily. What's happening in Europe?

This may have an effect on many tobacco/vaping issues.
In the early hours of the morning on Thursday 18th October, these three organisations had their offices, in Brussels, overturned and ransacked.

the ERS said that confidential data relating to the revision of the directive and other issues were stolen from its office.

According to the ERS, the outdoor sensors were destroyed and the
intruders "managed to skilfully evade indoor sensors within the office"

The draft EU Tobacco Products Directive must now be completely dead in the water.
Any new Health Commissioner would have to start again completely from
scratch, and can no longer just pick up where Dalli left off.

There was the possibility that the Directive could have attempted to
regulate electronic cigarettes by limiting the strength of nicotine in
e-liquid and cartomisers.
