There must be a million vapers in the world by now. So...Why don't we see people vaping in public?

Many vapers just don't want to draw attention to themselves and deal with the general public's stares or comments or are not interested in spending time to stop and talk about it with the curious.

I have a friend who vapes in public and is extremely obvious. He is one of those types that thinks its fun to stir up the pot. He will vape (creating obvious huge clouds of vapor) in the checkout line in stores. Interesting...Few ever say anything to him, however, he gets TONS of weird looks and many whisper to each other and smile.

Pulling out a "tube" (with a little glowing light on the end) and puffing in public makes many vapers feel uncomfortable. Some think it sends messages that they have a "medical condition" or something like that which "requires" them from time to time to use an inhaler. Many just don't want to deal with public reactions.

Many more vape in public than is noticed...They are "Stealth" vaping.

The vast majority disapproves of smoking around anyone.
Many E-cigarettes look like a cigarette.

Most vapers don’t want to wear sign around their neck that reads
Its NOT Smoke

I saw one person vaping a Green Cig at work. I was 100% converted within 2 weeks using an eGo.

I've since converted the CEO, and a few relatives of non-smoking friends, an others are on the way. I've yet to see anyone vaping in the wild, but I think it might be less common in New England than other areas of the country.

First man I saw was in the grocery store, not vaping but holding it in front of the magazine section .The second was a couple in the mall (Burlington Coat Factory) vaping 510's. My husband and I asked how the 510's were working for them. They happily pulled out their juice and showed us their charging pack and asked a lot of questions about my riva on my lanyard :)

i have seen only one. in a bar right by my apartment. i thought the bartender just didn't care. every so often i run into a dive that doesn't care if the regulars smoke. but i can't remember the last time or where. later i was trying to order a drink not from the waitress and i saw it was black with blue led. 99 percent sure it was a 510. i didn't ask anything. my mom says there are quite a few vapors in the casino when she goes. it's been so long since i've won any money i don't go anymore. most are not really willing to explain them to her. probably because they are too busy gambling. as long as my experience goes well i will convert her and my grandma to PV.

I've seen two, and the second one is the one that converted me.

The first was about 2 years ago. I was in the hospital and walking down the corridor and happened to look in a room a couple down from mine. My eyes about bugged out of my head when I saw this lady sitting up on her bed, and a large plume of what I thought was smoke billowing up above her head. She smiled and invited me in and proceeded to show me the first e-cig I'd ever seen (or even heard of).

The second was when I went to see my Pulmonologist for the first time. I was sitting in his office and his technician came in, exhaling this plume of "smoke". The shock must have been all over my face because he immediately said - it's vapor. :) He then proceeded to tell me all about his e-cig (a 510 model) and where he got it, how much it was, how it worked. He then stuck a nice clean cart on the end of it and asked me if I wanted to give it a try. I did. I liked!!! I ordered my own 510 from the website he recommended and I've been vaping ever since.

It still tickles me to this day that I was in a doctors OFFICE watching this guy vape. But not just any doctor, a Pulmonary specialist - a lung doctor! And then I read all these news stories about how people are trying to get e-cigs banned. But I guess this particular doctor was a bit biased - the same technician of his that converted me, had also converted the doctor's wife, and probably saved her life in doing so. I definitely give him credit for saving mine. I never pointed out to the doctor that it was his technician that saved my life (and bettered my health) and not the doctor himself - hehe, I think I'll keep that irony to myself. ;)

I was having drinks at a patio bar one night, vaping carefully, not to be too obvious, but there was one person who kept looking at me. I'm convinced she was trying to figure out what I was doing. I had a black 510 purple LED. That's when I decided that when in public -- no VG. Too much attention! I think we're all conditioned to be careful.

I'm in NW Arkansas- Just my wife and I and one co-worker vape. My wife started a couple of days before me and I got my co-worker to try it. That's it around here that I've seen so far.

I live in NW Arkansas too. A couple of days after Thanksgiving, I met for lunch with a couple of vapers that I've met through ECF. Since then, I've converted one person and am working on another.
