Why do you own so many? Whats the point?

I'm a noob vapor and own 2 ecigs. I have the Volcano Magma (cigarette looking ecig), Volcano Inferno and I ordered and should receive a LavaTube this Tuesday. Now the reason for me owning 3 is simple. The Magma for when I leave the house and know I wont be gone for long. The Inferno will be what I take to work and the LavaTube is the VV unit I wanted for when I'm home chillin.. I see many of you own lots of pv's.. Many own multiple big battery units and I was wondering why? For the most part if you have a BB VV its going to hit the same as others so why buy so many.. I understand if you have a bunch of tanks filled with different juices but why one a Buzz Pro, LavaTube and a Provari or 3or4 types if the same Ego type setup?

Many people wind up with many PVs during the process of discovery. Some are collectors. Some like to do different juices without having to unscrew/screw back on cartos and tanks.

I think I'm probably typical in that I kept acquiring more rigs until I found one that I could live with long term. I've kept the others around simply because I want backups.

For me it's a combination.....variety (like you mentioned, they each have a unique purpose whether it be VV, VW, size, battery life, durability, etc) and trial 'n error. Started with one....wasn't exactly what I was looking for so bought a different one and kept the first....second one wasn't it either, so bought a third and kept the other two.

That's me though.....others like their toys.....like the branding of an item....are obsessed with mods.....the reasons are endless. What really matters is that YOU have what YOU need to provide you with a satisfying vape....and it sounds like you do! Unfortunately it took me a bit longer (and probably more money) to get there. So.....where were YOU when I was starting out? hehehe

I started with the stick batteries; those got loaned out and I really don't care if I never see them again. They gave me my start in vaping and got me off the cigarettes, but other than that they are now worthless to me.

My first mods were an Altsmoke BB and Silver Bullet, both simple mechanical fixed-voltage mods. The SB was great for home, being rather heavy and large sized, but was able to carry a cartotank of 7ml easily. The BB was smaller, lightweight, hit just as hard as the SB, but had limited battery life. It was great for out of the house. I would have been happy with those except someone let me try higher voltage by putting an extender sleeve and a Kick in the SB. At that point I knew I needed a variable voltage mod.

I ended up getting a Provari with the extender cap for all day battery life. Again life was bliss, but the full size Provari was a little heavy to bring for just quick runs to the store.

I just ordered a Smoktech variable voltage Gripper for short trips about town. It fits in the palm of my hand, and hits as hard as the Provari, and has an 18650 battery that can last all day.

An I done? For a while.....

I have a lot of PVs...it was mostly because what I thought I wanted didn't always work like I thought it would. Then I'd find something that did work...but there were all these colors. Wanted all the colors! Then something by chance would happen and I'd try something for awhile because everybody on the forums were going on about it (like VV). Then I happened on a basic semi-mechanical mod and it was love...and a quest for a PV that was as simple as possible to repair/replace parts. I have ended up with 5 mods...with 2 more on the way...but it was all part of the learning curve. I already have what I REALLY wanted the whole time now (mechanical telescope mod), I just had to get over the aesthetics of how it looked...and how heavy it is. One of the new ones coming is a nod to this success and is only marginally different (still can use different batteries and is all metal/mechanical), the second one is to be a "back up"...but in the style that I now know I like (again...metal and can use different batteries). Neither of the two that are coming soon have the versatility of the telescope, however.

As to date I've got. 1-400mah mini, 1- 400mah spinner, 3 1000mah twist, 2 kGo's, (loaned to my sweeties mom who won't use em and now I can't find em), 2- itaste VV's, 1-Vamo VV/VW, 1- kicked Silver bullet, and one Provari. Why do I own so many? Because I can. And I don't want the zombies coming take em away. So that's a total of 12 i think. Oh yea I could get by with just 2 but, Why?
I really like toys. It goes along with about 5000 feet of paracord and all the juice and other things I won't mention.

I enjoy collecting them I also do reviews as new mods get released. Since your a vapor tell me you would not be impressed when you see a china cabinet with everything you can imagine in it.
Its kind of like a gun collection you only need a pistol rifle and shotgun but Its very nice to have some cool ones. So you are right no one needs 40 mods but I can say I have 40 mods! ;-)

I've managed to build a moderate sized collection, much more than I had imagined I would.

It's not always a case of needing more. Often it is more wanting to try new things, whether it be style or color or mechanics, or a combo of the three. Variety can be nice.

Also, I like to have different devices much like the OP for various activities/locations. Some live on my desk and other's are best suited for when I'm out and about, driving and such. And then there is the stealthier gear. Plus, I always carry a back up and recommend everyone do so.

Why do I own so many different ecigs and APV's ? The short version answer is that I beleive it can only be a good thing to have backups to backups to backups. I never intended to have so many when I started, it just kinda happened over time

At first my purchases were upgrades of sorts. Started with Joye 510 then added Egos. Then curiosity got the best of me and I had to try a Roughstack 3.7 VT tube mod. And a few months later decided to try a Notcigs Infinity vv mod. Not exactly certain when I realized it but somewhere along the line I found I preferred different ecigs and APV's for different occasions. I love Ego's when I need to be in stealth mode. Nothing better then my Hogmod bottom feeder when I have to drive for a long distance. My Buzz Pro is perfect for dripping when I'm home and wish to change flavors several times during the evening. Reading a good book for the evening I find my Zenesis Mini to be perfect to vape while I read.

I also discovered along the way that no, not all APV's of the same type hit the same. They may all do the job but some do the job more consistently and better then others. Then there's the fact that some models simply feel better in my hand then others. My Infinity being my first vv APV made me fall in love with vv vaping BUT I much prefer the feel of my Buzz Pro in my hand

Then there is the fact that the FDA seems intent on disrupting our vaping world. I wish to have the ability to vape for a LONG time if I choose and therefore as insurance no matter what happens in the future I've chosen to add to my collection rebuilable attys and all mechanical APV's.

Pretty much the same for me, bought the ones in a kit, a few times...I just wished I had found this forum first! Or at least before the third one that got me off the real cigs. I think it just takes some of us more time and more things to find our sweet spots.

I don't understand the drive to own a lot of different mods either. I have kept myself to just a few and even tho there are times when another backup or two would be nice I would have to find something special to add any more...

I do have a Chi_You on the way....but that's a mod of a different vapor...

I started off acquiring PVs through trial and error...now I'm just a collector. I have a dozen eGos around somewhere and one eGo Twist after selling my other three. I mainly use my two Provaris and my wife uses my last working Lavatube (they just don't last). I have two Vamos on the way as well as two iTaste MVPs. Many more are planned for the future...haha.

Why do you own so many?

In my case, in da past, 'chasing' technology! Plus with the continuing advancements, I can't get near what I paid for 'em. So I've pretty much have settled with what I like until there's an earth shaking breakthrough in PVs. I don't expect anything dramatic in da near future.

My current quest is the next carefree/consistent joose device that beats what I'm currently vaping.

It goes along with about 5000 feet of paracord...
