Katya,

The various Erlkonigin clones come in two diameters---20.5 and 20.7mm, but that seems to be merely a difference in the thickness of the tank section. All the bases, O-rings, and caps are apparently identical in size and interchangeable. Mine are all 20.7mm, and the Mini kits fit all eight of them perfectly (same threading on the chimneys and bases, and the shorter chimneys/tanks are the right length to seal exactly as they should).

I can attest that the FT Mini kits fit both the $10 Erl and the various $5 Erls in the angelcigs sale. Those ship from the U.S., so they arrive really fast, but shipping is ten bucks, which is why I bought five of the five-buck ones. The two cheapies I've put into service so far work beautifully, however. No difference in vape quality that I can tell between the $5 clones and the two $10 ones I bought a month ago or my first $14 Erl clone from FT purchased in November. In fact, the draw on the cheapest ones is "cleaner" (meaning airier but less noisy) than the draw on my first Erl. Even though I don't direct lung inhale, I like an airy draw. Go figure. The Erls don't have as ultra-smooth a draw as my Nautilus BVCs, but they're easily good enough to keep me happy. Anyway, the draw is infinitely adjustable on Erls, so if you want just a smidgen more airiness than with a Kayfun, you can get that from an Erl with ease. Tight, medium, or very airy---whatever you like.

Below is a link to the full-size Erl clone tanks in the angelcigs clearance, and then another link to the Mini conversion kits from fasttech:

Replacement Chimney and Tank for Mini EK RTA at fasttech

Mystery solved!

Thank you Bill!

taste and the perception of taste is extremely individual and might not have a thing to do with the equipment ;)

Absolutely. It's often not the hardware and juice that cause differences, but the particular vaper's brain. Many of my posts include the standard disclaimer: YMMV.

Excuse me folks, I haven't contributed to this thread, but I do scan it every couple-few days trying to keep abreast of the 'tiny' mods. Saw a number of you talking about low power & tighter draws as your vaping style. My wife is one of 'you'. After picking up a couple mini sub-tanks to try out, she gave up on hers until I did this:
Hi Mike!!! I saw your post on one of the porches. Very creative! If I get a sub tank one day I will remember this.

tweety, if you are heading that way don't forget to add a kayfun replacement glass tank to your order ;)

I think I'll get the IBTanked glass kit for Erl mini--it fits better and comes with extra o-rings that are nicer and thicker than the original ones.

That is, when I finally decide to place my order.

Thanks for sharing the great tip, Mike. Would using a narrow-bore drip tip accomplish much the same effect?

Not for 'us' (me and my wife), it didn't. That was one of the 1st things we tried, swapping out the drip tip. Even w/ the "toothpick mod" we prefer a regular bore drip tip.

Bill, are you saying the EK clones have a draw that's more restrictive than a Nautilus, or just more turbulent?

Because if it's as restrictive as a Nautilus, it's not what I'd call an airy draw, it's just a slightly less cheek-denting tootle-puff than some. To me, a Nautilus was a slightly thinner milkshake through a slightly wider straw than most of the low wattage clearos that came before it, if you will. It still required me to suck, and therefore, ultimately, it sucked. :)

Bill, are you saying the EK clones have a draw that's more restrictive than a Nautilus, or just more turbulent?

To some extent, I find the draw on the Erl clones to be partially dependent on the position of the coil and amount of wicking. I have four in use right now; two are roughly equivalent to my Nautis and Nauti Minis in draw, while the other two are substantially more "open." What I meant by "not ultra-smooth" is that the draw on my Erls is somewhat more turbulent (I might use the term "slightly ragged") than the Nautilus, but not more restrictive.

Numerous RDAs are considerably airier than the Erls. I have two Magmas that I don't use because I didn't like their propensity to leak, but I recall that their draws were extremely airy when set to wide open. I use small-chamber Cyclone clones (YK1 KTS) on most of my bottom-feeders, and I've drilled out the air holes on the sides of their caps, so their draws are airier than my Erls.

From your post, however, I'd hazard a guess that you'd probably find the Erls more restricted than you like.

Thanks. $15 shipped would be a cheap enough experiment, though with that shipping, you can find a full EK clone kit on ebay shipped from US sellers at about the same price, with both metal and plastic tank, metal drip tip and 510 drip tip adaptor that would be better for experimentation, then go with a mess of $5 tanks if you find you like them.

Might also just be a case of getting the wider diameter center post/airflow section that's an option on the genuine Erl.

I find the Lemo more restrictive than I like as well, just as an FYI.

Hey, don't laugh. I pull the straws out of my milk shakes and soft drinks too. I don't like sucking, I like inhaling. :)

Hey, I may be a weenie because I don't like most of my juices any higher than 10 watts but I don't drink through sissy sticks, an I take my vapor straight to lung. :)

Hey you, sweet man...... Happy Early V-Day, my dahling...

I don't want to sub ohm!!! I don't want 50 and 100 and 260 watt batteries! I don't want to lung inhale--my lungs have suffered enough. I don't want drip tips with 12mm bore! I'm not a chimney!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want Kanger to make single OCC coils that are easy to rewick and will work in my Aerotanks and my Emows.

I want Aspire to make cotton coils so I can get a Nautilus!

I want Joyetech to make a Delta III for normal people!

I want a clean vape at 8-12 watts, good flavor, nice airflow.

End rant. I feel better now.

Carry on! :)

Whew! I was emoting with you on all of that!

Oh c'mon, name names. Give credit where credit is due! You might have a valuable collector's item there!:)

That's interesting........Thanks for sharing.

I'm going to wait for Kanger to make a new AFC control valve with another tiny hole for us low-watt, tight draw toodle vapor club members. Even Phil complained about too much air on the lowest setting--he's a Kayfun guy! :)

Power to the low watt, tight draw toodle vapers! Although I do prefer a slightly airy draw..

New thread anyone? The low watt, tight draw toodle vapers? clnire....... go fer it. ;)

Very koolio, Mike. The blue(foam) toothpick mod! That's pretty ingenious actually.

I looked. But the diameter of the mini is listed as 20.5mm. The clone you linked is 20.7mm.

On the other hand, this one is also 20.5mm, just like the mini.

$16.45 Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (8ml) - stainless steel + PC tank / 20.5mm dia. / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Oy.

My choices: frankenstein the Erl, stick a toothpick in the SubTank or... get a Lemo.

or just get an Aspire tank and coils......

*running...... full speed!*

Is this one on the list?
U20 Mod - Kidney Puncher

I am playing catch up, and read the posts about manufacturers going for organic cotton coils.
Have any of you done your own comparisons? I have put several brands of "organic cotton" against Celu Cotton/Dacron, and if given my choice, I would rather them stick to Dacron instead, It holds up better than any of the organics I have compared to it. The best I have had organic last is 3 to 4 days sub ohming.
