I don't know all the scientific respiratory issues with smoking, but I remember my O2 oxygen being in the mid to higher 90's when I smoked and it was checked for whatever reasons.

Today I went to see my Dr. and they took all my vitals and I was pleasantly surprised to see my O2 oxygen saturation level at 100%.

Maybe it can fluctuate, I don't know, I just know I haven't seen that number that I can remember EVER. :)

"smoking adds CO to the system and reduces the available O to be adsorbed by the blood... no smoke... no CO... more O"

The way my body reacted to decreased O2 (due to heavy smoking) was to produce extra red blood cells (that carry the O2). Lots of extra red blood cells. When my Dr. discovered it, he sent me to the blood bank to donate a pint, then to a specialist, who took another pint a week later.
Dr. said my blood was so thick that I was going to have a stroke or heart attack before he could treat me for what I originally went to see him for.
The specialist took 8+ months of regular blood donations before I had a normal O2 level.

OMG, is that something I have to worry about or is that a really rare side effect?

Even at my worst, my O2 saturation was like, 97? That's not far off normal, I think I'm going to not worry about it. My 02 levels always stayed mostly okay 99 range, but I did one of those "blow into something and register your lung capacity?" two years ago... My doc told me I had the lungs of a 77 year old woman. It didn't phase me much, but I am certainly going to get it tested again 6 months or so into vaping, hopefully I will have travelled backward in time.

I wouldn't worry to much Anna. 97 is normal range. I only mentioned 100 because I never had that reading before and may not again except under perfect circumstances, I just hit it at the right time. Your lung capacity should improve since your not smoking anymore. I'm in no way an expert or a Dr. those are just my thoughts on your post. :)

Well, I have to go in to get my lungs checked in a month or so anyway (my doc is going to be so happy *I* finally stopped gurgling, he probably won't care so much about my tank doing that) and I have to get some routine labwork anyway, so I may ask for that test to be tacked on for my peace of mind. I feel fine, though. :) I was just a really heavy smoker, so its worrying, though I always used to say I ran on nicotine, caffiene, and chemicals :)
