Panasonic NCR18650PF ?

Anyone have some information on the 'new' Panasonic NCR18650PF batteries? How do they compare to the NCR18650PD batteries? Those PD's are also referred to as the Orbtronics..

Different chemistry to the PD. LiNiCOMnO2. The PD has Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium core and the PF has a Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide core. The PF chemisty should be better for longer high drain applications and should be less prone to damage over time.

bad is correct the only info posted around right now show it is a different mixture for the pd series and is supposed to last longer before wearing out and stay stable at a higher output longer.

That data I also diged up in a simple Google search, but I thought if someone knows anything from first hand experience.

So they should be better then the PD's.

Huh, that's interesting, the keeppower picture shows grey cells (like the CGR) and the FT picture shows green cells (like the PD). I had assumed these were just the next batch of PDs. It's interesting that there was supposedly a chemistry change and that chemistry is being stated, when it's not stated for any other Panasonic battery. That makes me a little skeptical, but then again the PD is not even acknowledged in any official Panasonic literature.

I was going to order the NCR 18650PD at FT to replace my Efest IMR 18650 2000mAH v2 until I saw this thread. Thank you guys for the info. I will place an order on the NCR 18650PF.

this is the reply:

'Hi William,
Yes, that's the improved PD. It runs even cooler on high Amps, and improvement on voltage drop. Nothing significant. 30-40 mAh more in capacity as well.'




it just shows that any improvement they can make they will and panasonic is staying busy in the R&D dept.

If the internal resistance figures on the BLF post above are correct, wouldn't the PD run cooler at high amps?

Nothing to do but wait for the graphs I guess.

I use it in my SVD and it runs like a champ. I'm assuming it would work well in a vamo as well.

I got my pair last week from Illumination Supply based in California. I paid $17.86 for TWO batteries incl. shipping and they were quick to ship them too.

I have been using them exclusively with my SVD mod and they will run all day for me when I'm home, they last two days when I'm working and such.

So just trying to figure out, what would be the safest ohm to run a dripper on these? Or should these only be used for VV?
