I have been vaping for about six years and only over the last few months has my problem developed.
I wake up during the nights and start wheezing, coughing and bringing up phlegm.
During the day I constantly bring up phlegm.
I cannot stop vaping but am sure it is to blame. All I can do is take cough mixture which helps.

Although it could be almost anything from a respiratory infection to a sensitivity that you've developed to something in your e-liquid, diagnosing over the Internet is irresponsible and possibly dangerous.

If your cough/wheezing/phlegm production has been going on for more than a week without signs of letting up, PLEASE get yourself to a doctor and get checked out as soon as possible.

Did you in this time change set ups to a bigger cloud/subohm setup and/or using a very high vg?

Sounds like buildup from heavy lung hitting on high vg.

Also not as likely but still worth checking out, did you add any new juices/ flavors to your rotation during this time?

Go unflavored try PG/VG ratio and see a Dr.

Makes me wonder if you switched to sub ohms and lung hits recently. I did and it is affecting me in those ways when I do it a few days in a row. Never happened when vaping higher ohms on smaller units. Higher amounts of e-liquid has to leave more pg/vg in the lungs. No proof but when I look at my car windows and the vape build up it has to be going into the lungs along the same lines. Just some food for thought that I have been noticing. CHEERS!

I have a family member who smoked fo many years, and once my father was diagnosed with COPD, this family member decided to quit smoking. He just had to do it cold turkey, because vaping was not an option then. After awhile (dont remember how long) he started having the symptoms you are describing. All I will say is that you do need to go see a Dr and get checked out by all means. Hope things get better for you.

This is not uncommon. After you quit smoking, your lungs will start to "rid themselves" of as much of the crap you have put into them as possible. Most people experience excessive coughing and some nasty "discharge" a few weeks after they quit, which eventually subsides. The OP says he's been vaping for 6 years though, so assuming he didn't pick up smoking again and then quit recently, that wouldn't really explain this.

Again, to the OP, WE'RE NOT DOCTORS!

I had a relative who stopped smoking and developed emphysema several years afterward (no vaping involved there). He got progressively breathless over the next decade and then came up with a cancer on his gum. Radiation treatment and all that, couldn't eat, and he passed away. Not due to vaping at all, because he didn't vape.

My mother quit smoking when she was about 62. Eighteen years later she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma that presented with a tumor in her lung. Chemo, and she died 4 1/2 months later. No vaping involved.

My neighbor across the street used to smoke decades ago. His wife, who didn't smoke, died of lung cancer about 20 years ago. He was diagnosed with lung cancer last year and had treatment. So far, he has survived and regained his health apparently. He looks good now. No vaping there, either.

Just quitting smoking doesn't guarantee that we won't eventually fall victim to the damage we did for years.

You should probably see a doctor to find out what's going on.

Yea, but it doesn't mean it can't be caused by vaping. We are guinea pigs. Don't forget it. As much as I love vaping I keep on hearing the same propaganda to support it.

I agree, and I didn't mean to imply that vaping is 100% safe, because I'm sure it isn't. Nothing is 100% safe. But I do think vaping isn't nearly as harmful as smoking. That said, I don't trust the flavorings, and I don't vape high-wattage, either. I vape DIY unflavored at 8.6 watts, just enough action there to keep me off the smokes.

I switched 6+yrs ago & haven't had the first case of bronchitis (or rather chronic bronchitis b/c I had that rather than regular but it was exacerbated by 4 autoimmune diseases) since.

September of this year, I switched to a Kanger Subox Mini; however, I still don't do lung hits, which might explain why I don't get any of the crud in my lungs or whatever; however, I have never - as a smoker or a vaper - never been immune to the run-of-the-mill upper respiratory infection since this is generally bacterial in nature and contagious. I know it's going around the schools where I live and when I go out each time, I am putting myself at risk from others who may have it or be carrying it...

Just because I haven't had chronic bronchitis or the need for antibiotics for the infections the bronchitis used to cause doesn't mean I haven't needed antibiotics. I have had to take them for the upper respiratory infections along with the Sudafed you now have to sign for & are limited to X number of boxes at a time along with showing ID in order to buy even 1 box. Also, I am allergic to tree pollen and since it's still relatively warm where I live, people are still mowing their lawns and the last of the leaves are falling along with the tree pollen floating everywhere so I have had to contend with allergies on top of 2 upper respiratory infections.

Since my immune system is for all intents & purposes broken, I see my doctor early if needed or when any new symptoms begin. The upper respiratory infections I have had over the years do occasionally cause a cough but it's a dry cough from the post-nasal drip, hence the Sudafed taken with the upper respiratory infections & the allergies. DEFINITELY SEE YOUR DOCTOR! If you have kids at home, that's even bigger reason to see your doctor because kids bring all kinds of bugs home from school. Even those with the strongest of immune systems can't fight them all without a bit of help, esp if it's bacterial in nature and it's been going on for more than a week or so, even without fever... (I can't tell the difference between a fever and the high temps I tend to run as a result of Lupus (SLE), which is the overall hardest autoimmune disease on my system as a whole but if it runs for more than a few days to a week along with other symptoms, I'm in the doctor's office).

So please go see a doctor or stop by a walk-in Quick-Med if you can't get an appointment soon enough. Vaping helps, don't get me wrong. All my specialists are PRO Vaping; however, ignoring any warning signs of a problem you may be having is just not sensible. This is another little gem my specialists remind me of when I come in for the standard every X days or X months for checkup on various parts of the systems within the body as a whole.

Over the years I have naturally progressed from the basic e-ciggie to the e-leak/i-stick Bellows?
When I order liquid I select a number of various flavors but stick to 18mg.
I prefer PG but normally have to take the combined PG/VG.
My doctor will provide me with a simple remedy - stop vaping. That is why I am reluctant to see him.
